Nirbhaya's mother accuses convicts' lawyer AP Singh of misguiding court

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Supreme Court dismissed convict Pawan Kumar's curative petition in 2012 Delhi gangrape case on March 02. The petition had sought commutation of his death penalty to life imprisonment. While reacting on this, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi blamed convicts' lawyer AP Singh for misguiding the court. Death warrants against all four convicts have been scheduled for March 03 in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

BJP engaged in horse-trading in Madhya Pradesh, alleges Digvijaya Singh

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister and senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on March 02 said that BJP is engaged in horse-trading in Madhya Pradesh. Courts didn't hang culprit in Jessica Lal case, then why here: Nirbhaya convicts' lawyer

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): Supreme Court dismissed one of the convicts of 2012 Delhi gangrape case, Pawan Gupta's curative petition on March 02, a day before scheduled hanging of the four convicts. The petition had sought commutation of his death penalty to life imprisonment. Speaking on it to media persons, Singh said, "This is the country that saw Nithari Kand where innocent kids were killed, accused Surinder Koli is alive. When Nithari Kand accused is alive, so the thing is here you are hanging five people for one but there you couldn't hang one or two for fifty. Naina Sahni and Jessica Lal murder case are few other same examples. Don't they have family? Their family members were not getting funding from outside, that is why they were unheard. " He further said, "You can hang a kid, can dismiss his curative petition but cannot do the same with others. I leave this question up to you."

Students appear for CBSE Board exams in riot affected North-East Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 02 (ANI): After days of massive violence in the North-East part of the national capital, several students gathered at various school centers for giving their Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Board examinations. Earlier, CBSE postponed Class 10 and 12 Board exams in riot affected part of Delhi keeping in mind the security of children. Schools witnessed presence of students on March 02. Heavy security has also been deployed outside examination centers for safety of students. Board exams which were scheduled to be held on February 28, 29 got cancelled by CBSE due to safety purposes.

Stocks recover from last week's fall, ICICI Bank top gainer

Mumbai, Mar 02 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices reversed last week's losses during early hours on Monday as investors got some respite as GDP numbers were slightly ahead of estimates with green shoots on the manufacturing side seeing better traction. The economy expanded by 4.7 per cent in the October to December quarter, a marginal increase from 4.5 per cent in the previous quarter but in line with expectations. At 10:15 am, the BSE SandP Sensex was up by 504 points or 1.32 per cent to 38,802 while the Nifty 50 edged higher by 147 points at 11,349. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty realty and metal gaining by 1.9 per cent each, pharma by 1.7 per cent, IT by 1.3 per cent and FMCG by 1.1 per cent. Among stocks, ICICI Bank added gains of 3.8 per cent at Rs 516.15 per share. Metal major Vedanta and JSW Steel were up by 2.6 per cent each while FMCG major Nestle India ticked up by 2.3 per cent.
