Panaji (Goa), Jan 14 (ANI): A 'Know your Army Mela' was organised at Campal Ground in Panaji ahead of the 72nd Army Day celebrations. Military and pipe band display were held at the fair. A dog show was also organised with other cultural programmes. Military equipment was also showcased for the people. Several people thronged at the fair to witness the event. Army Day is celebrated on January 15 every year.

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Union Information and Broadcast Minister Prakash Javadekar reacted on the controversial book 'Aaj ke Shivaji: Narendra Modi'. He said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great warrior and can't be compared with anyone. "Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has nothing to do with the book written by Jai Bhagwan Goyal as we never knew what he has written," said Javadekar. He further added, "Jai Bhagwan Goyal has also apologised to the people of Maharashtra and world. He has withdrawn the book. I think we should put the controversy to rest".

New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Canon introduced a new robotic camera system that is capable of remotely controlling select cameras and lenses. The CR-S700R system features a remote pan head that can be used to control compatible Canon EOS camera and lens for still image shooting. It is targeted at professional photographers who need to operate cameras remotely, the official release notes. A separate CR-A100 Camera Remote Application allows one to control multiple such cameras from a PC, display live-view images, trigger a camera or simultaneously shoot with multiple cameras. The Robotic Camera System and the Camera Remote Application are scheduled to be available from mid-February.
Chennai (Tamil Nadu), Jan 14 (ANI): Japan Coast Guard Ship 'Echigo' arrived at the Chennai Port in Tamil Nadu on January 13. They are on a five-day visit. The ship will participate in the Indo-Japan joint-exercise 'Sahyog-Kaijin'.
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 14 (ANI): A suspicious letter was delivered at the residence of Bhopal MP Pragya Singh Thakur. Powder-like substance was also found with the letter. Police reached the spot and a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team is examining the letter. A case has been registered. While talking about it, Pragya Thakur said, "The letter is written in Urdu and some other letters were also attached with it. I have received such letters earlier too and informed the police about it, they never took any action. This is a big conspiracy by enemies of the nation".
Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Jan 14 (ANI): Due to low temperature, blanket of frost covered Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district. Divisional Forest Officer of Baripada Forest Division, Swayam Mallick said, "We have been experiencing very low temperature in here and as a result of this widespread frost is noticed in some areas."
New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): While addressing a press conference, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Chairman Dr RS Sharma informed about the new prices set up for the TV channels. He said, "Under the new framework the MRP for a channel which was earlier Rs 19 has been brought down to Rs 12. Any channel less than or equal to Rs 12 will be able to be a part of the bouquet. Earlier, some of the broadcasters who were selling the same channels at Rs 5, increased its price to Rs 19. The SD or HD both which obviously were priced differently became Rs 19. So the consumer's choice was distorted," said TRAI Chairman.

New Delhi, Jan 13 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices hit fresh lifetime highs on Monday as global investors awaited US President Donald Trump and Chinese officials to sign the long awaited phase one trade deal later this week. The BSE S-P Sensex closed 260 points or 0.62 per cent higher at 41,860 while the Nifty 50 moved up by 73 points at 12,330. All sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were in the green with Nifty realty ticking up by 2 per cent, IT by 1.6 per cent, metal by 1.2 per cent and FMCG by 1.1 per cent. Among stocks, Infosys rose by 4.65 per cent to Rs 772.50 per share after the IT major reported 11 per cent jump in consolidated net profit for the quarter ended December 2019 (Q3 FY20) to Rs 4,457 crore from Rs 4,019 crore quarter-on-quarter due to higher other income and lower other expenses. The year-on-year profit growth was 23.5 per cent.

Voice of the youth is legitimate, it should not be suppressed, and the government should listen to it." "Narendra Modi should have courage to tell youngsters why Indian economy has become a disaster...He doesn't have guts to stand in front of students. Chennai, Jan 13 (ANI): Ahead of the Pongal festival, people of Tamil Nadu's Chennai are gearing up to celebrate four-day long celebrations. Pongal is a harvest festival dedicated to the Sun God. Truckloads of sugarcanes and gingers were brought to Chennai's Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex. It is one of the most auspicious festivals of Tamilians which is mainly celebrated to offer prayers to the Sun God for a good harvest. Pongal coincides with 'Makar Sankranti' which is celebrated in North India and begins a day after Lohri every year. It marks the start of the Sun's six-month-long journey towards Uttarayanam.

Addressing the gathering, VC Najma Akhtar said that FIR against crackdown by Delhi Police inside varsity campus will begin tomorrow. She said, "Delhi Police entered the campus without permission and the process of filing an FIR against Delhi Police will begin from tomorrow." Delhi Police had entered the campus of Jamia on December 15 while chasing the protesters who were demonstrating against Citizenship Amendment Act and the proposed all-India NRC. Police had also fired tear gases at the students. Police crackdown in Jamia resulted in vehement students and citizens' protest across the country.
