Maharashtra should follow Kerala Assembly's resolution against CAA: Congress' Arif Khan

Mumbai, Dec 31 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Mumbai on Kerala Assembly passed resolution demanding withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the Congress leader Mohammad Arif Naseem Khan said, "We welcome this decision by Kerala government, all state governments, including the Thackeray government in Maharashtra should call a session of assembly, asking the central government to withdraw Citizenship Amendment Act."

Kharge calls Sadhvi Niranjan 'uncultured' over her comments on Priyanka Gandhi

Poster war in Delhi over authorization of colonies

New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have kickstarted their election campaign in Delhi. Posters have been put up claiming credit of providing possession letters to 40 lakh people residing in unauthorized colonies by BJP. The poster bears the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Infant Mortality Rate reduced to 5.55% in 2019: Rajasthan Health Minister

Jaipur (Rajasthan), Dec 31 (ANI): Health Minister of Rajasthan, Raghu Sharma hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for 'politicizing' the deaths of newborns in Kota's government hospital. Health Minister said that their government reduced the Infant Mortality Rate to 5.55% in 2019. "The Infant Mortality Rate in the state was 7.62% in 2014, 7.17% in 2015, 6.66% in 2016, 6% in 2017 and 6.11% in 2018. We have reduced it to 5.55% in 2019," said Health Minister in Jaipur. He also said, "Opposition leaders are spreading infection by visiting hospital."The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a show-cause notice to the Chief Medical Officer of Kota District over infant deaths in the JK Lon Hospital in December.

PFI fanned protests in UP; anti-nationals will not be tolerated: Dy CM Maurya

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 31 (ANI): Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya said that the Popular Front of India (PFI) had fanned protests against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) in the state. "Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), the Popular Front of India (PFI) fanned protests in the state. Pursuant to the probe, the truth has come to the fore," Maurya told the mediapersons. Any anti-national in the state and country would not be tolerated, the deputy chief minister said, adding that if SIMI comes out in a different form, it will be crushed. The comments came in the backdrop of a letter written by Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking a ban on PFI for its involvement in the violent protests against the CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC) that took place on December 19.

Refugees from Pakistan get Indian citizenship in Rajasthan's Kota

Priyanka should remove 'Gandhi' from her name: Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti

New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Responding to Priyanka Gandhi's 'saffron' remark on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP leader Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that Priyanka needs to understand what 'Bhagwa' is. She said, "She first needs to understand what a 'bhagwa' is. It is condemnable when people make such statements about 'bhagwa'. I want to ask Priyanka if she has any association with those who burnt buses." Further attacking Congress leader, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said, "Priyanka is not Gandhi. She should remove Gandhi from her name. There is a huge difference in the belief of Mahatma Gandhi and her. She should write Feroz Priyanka instead." While expressing concern of Yogi Adityanath's 'revenge' remark, Priyanka Gandhi on December 30 said that CM Yogi wears saffron but it is not his personal colour.

Equities on low swing in the absence of fresh triggers, Tech Mahindra falls by 1.7 pc

New Delhi, Dec 31 (ANI): Equity benchmark indices were subdued during early hours on Tuesday, the last trading session of 2019, with experts saying the market is likely to remain range-bound in the absence of any major triggers. At 10:15 am, the BSE S and P Sensex was down by 137 points to 41,421 while the Nifty 50 edged lower by 38 points at 12,218. Sectoral indices at the National Stock Exchange were mixed with Nifty IT down by 0.6 per cent, private bank by 0.5 per cent and auto by 0.4 per cent. Nifty realty ticked up by 0.25 per cent. Among stocks, Tech Mahindra fell by 1.76 per cent to Rs 768.95 per share while Wipro slipped by 0.78 per cent. Eicher Motors was down by 0.9 per cent and Hero MotoCorp by 0.8 per cent. The others which lost were IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC. Those which showed marginal gains were Bharti Infratel, Coal India, Dr Reddy's, Hindustan Lever and Britannia. Wasteland turned into medicinal plant garden in Shivamogga
