CM Kejriwal announces welfare scheme, benefits for lawyers

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced various facilities and welfare scheme for lawyers who are voters in Delhi. "There were some longstanding demands of lawyers that we had promised to fulfill. We had set aside Rs 50 crore for their welfare, a committee was set up to decide how to spend it. Committee had made four demands, the cabinet has accepted all of them. We have decided to give lawyers who are voters in Delhi, medical insurance up to Rs 5 lakh, every lawyer will be given life insurance up to Rs 10 lakh. E-libraries and creches will be started in all court premises for the lawyers, for their convenience," said CM Kejriwal.

Bengaluru, Dec 18 (ANI): While speaking to ANI in Bengaluru on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Congress leader DK Shivakumar said, "Many of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) states have said that it is very difficult to implement this bill. The bill itself is unconstitutional and it is not in the interest of the country." "A government or a political party can't force any individual to take any religion or practice and what the central government has done is not with the democracy," he added.

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): Supreme Court will hear review petition filed by Akshay Kumar Singh, one of the convicts in 2012 Delhi gang-rape case on Dec 18. Supreme Court will also hear petition filed by Advocate Sanjeev Kumar, seeking immediate direction to execute culprits at the earliest. Speaking on today's review, Nirbhaya's father Badrinath Singh said, "I am feeling the same as the whole country, their (convicts) petition will definitely be rejected and the date of their hanging will be given."

Bike-borne men attack Nagpur Mayor

Nagpur (Maharashtra), Dec 18 (ANI): Nagpur Mayor Sandip Joshi had a narrow escape after two bike-borne miscreants fired three bullets at him on December 18. Heavy traffic at DND Flyway due to road closure in Okhla

Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 18 (ANI): Heavy traffic was observed on DND Flyway on Dec 18. Vehicle crawled in snail's speed as Road No 13A between Mathura Road-Kalindi Kunj and Okhla underpass going towards Kalindi Kunj have been closed for vehicular movement. Orange festival kicks off in Imphal

Imphal (Manipur), Dec 18 (ANI): The 16th state-level orange festival cum Centenary Celebration began in Manipur's Imphal on December 17. The festival is taking place in Tamenglong of Imphal. People gathered in large numbers at the public ground of Tamenglong to enjoy the tangy display of oranges. The festival will continue for three-days. Orange festival is organised by District Administration of Tamenglong under the sponsorship of North Eastern Council and Government of Manipur. Around 370 farmers are participating in the orange festival. Rs 2 lakh, Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 will be awarded to first, second and third prize winners in the orange competition. Rs 10,000 each will also be given to all the participating orange growers.

Rape accused convicted in record time of 5 days in UP's Siddharthnagar

Siddharthnagar (Uttar Pradesh), Dec 18 (ANI): A man was convicted within five days of hearing in Uttar Pradesh's Siddharthnagar district on December 17. He was convicted by fast track court. The man was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping his minor daughter. WhatsApp fixes message bug that made app unusable for groups

New Delhi, Dec 18 (ANI): WhatsApp has fixed a loophole that allowed one message to render the app unusable for entire groups. The security bug, discovered by Check Point Research, let a single malicious user to allow the app to crash for all members of a group chat by editing message parameters using WhatsApp web interface and browser debugging tool, Engadget reports. WhatsApp patched the issue in September with version 2.19.58. Users are advised to update their apps to prevent the unstoppable crash-loop.
