New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan replied to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for winter session of parliament. "We also expect from the Prime Minister that all the issues concerning to the interest of the common people must be allowed to be discussed inside the Parliament. Parliament is meant for discussion, debate and dialogues," said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.He further added, "It is incumbent upon the government to run the House smoothly so that opposition parties will be able to express their views, articulate their opinion in an appropriate manner. This is the essence of Parliamentary democracy." Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on November 18 that 'everyone should contribute to enrich discussions in Parliament'.

It is very important because this is the 250th Parliament session of the Rajya Sabha. During this session, on 26th, we will observe the Constitution Day - when our Constitution completes its 70 years. The Constitution is the symbol of nation's unity, integrity and its diversity."

Bangkok, Nov 18 (ANI): Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that government of India is committed to work towards achieving a US$ 26 billion Defence Industry by 2025."The draft Defence Production Policy 2018 had set a target of US$ 5 billion in defence exports by 2025. While the target is ambitious, it's encouraging to know that India's defence exports grew nearly 6 times in over the past 2 years," Rajnath Singh said while addressing a gathering in Bangkok.

Defence Minister is in Thailand to participate in ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus). Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended Australia-India bilateral meeting in Bangkok on November 17. Rajnath Singh held talks with several world leaders during his visit.

Mysuru (Karnataka), Nov 18 (ANI): Congress MLA Tanveer Sait was attacked with a sharp knife by a man during an event in Karnataka's Mysuru on November 17. The MLA was admitted to a hospital and the attacker was taken into police custody. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. Police investigation is underway.
New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Odd-even scheme came to end in national capital. Even though air quality in Delhi improved significantly due to strong winds, a layer of smog was observed at ITO area on Nov 18. As per the Air Quality Index (AQI) data by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), air quality at ITO was recorded at 215, which is in 'Poor' category this morning. Though, according to Air Quality Index (AQI), major pollutants in Delhi's Lodhi Road were PM 2.5 at 188 in 'moderate' category and PM 10 at 174 in 'moderate' category. Meanwhile, schools in Delhi-NCR also reopened today. All schools in Delhi-NCR were closed on Nov 14-15 due to rise in pollution levels.
Lahaul-Spiti (Himachal Pradesh), Nov 18 (ANI): The snow clearance operation is underway in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul-Spiti. It is continued on Manali-Leh Road between Kokasar and Rohtang. Life has been affected and roads are blocked due to heavy snowfall. Lahaul-Spiti recorded minimum temperature of -14 degree Celsius.

Sangrur (Punjab), Nov 18 (ANI): A group of locals staged a protest against the killing of a Dalit man Jagmail Singh, who was allegedly beaten up and forced to drink urine in Punjab's Sangrur. Protesters demanded compensation for his family. While speaking to media, AAP MLA Harpal Singh Cheema said that compensation of Rs. 50 lakh must be given to the deceased's family. "He (Dalit man Jagmail Singh) died after he was forced to drink urine and was thrashed mercilessly. A compensation of Rs. 50 lakh must be given to the family of the deceased and also, a family member should be given a government job," Cheema told reporters.
New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Last rites of Goa Director General of Police (DGP) Pranab Nanda were performed in Delhi on Nov 17. His body was kept for last darshan for his well wishers. National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and Delhi's Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal also paid their last respects. Nanda had died due to cardiac arrest on Nov 16. Nanda was on a visit to Delhi after attending official functions in Goa on Nov 15.
Sannidhanam (Kerala), Nov 18 (ANI): Devotees thronged the Sabarimala Temple to offer prayers on November 18. The shrine was opened on Nov 16 evening for the 'Mandala Pooja' festival. One of the priests opened the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, marking the beginning of 41-day long pooja session.
New Delhi, Nov 18 (ANI): Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan on November 17 said "urban naxals, anarchists and atheists" are going to the Sabarimala temple in guise of devotees, just to prove they have visited the temple, and called for the examination of such people. "The people who are going to temple now, are urban naxals, anarchists and atheists. I don't think they're devotees. They want to prove that 'we have gone to Sabrimala Temple. Whether they're really devotees, it should be examined," Muraleedharan told ANI.

Mahadev Jadhav, who is working at the Pune Muncipal Corporation (PMC) for around 25 years, sings while doing his job to alert people about the need to keep their surroundings clean. Through his songs, he also requests people to segregate solid and liquid waste.
