Amritsar (Punjab), Nov 12 (ANI): Guru Nanak Jayanti will be celebrated across the country today (Nov 12). Devotees thronged to Golden Temple in Amritsar to offer prayers. They also took a holy dip in the 'Sarovar' at the gurudwara. Today marks the 550th birth anniversary of founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak Dev.

Smog canopies Delhi, air quality remains 'Hazardous'

New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): A layer of thick smog blankets the national capital on November 12. There is no respite for people as air quality remains 'Hazardous'. According to Air Quality Index (AQI), major pollutants in Delhi's Lodhi Road, PM 2.5 stood at 456, which means 'severe' and PM 10 at 287, which means 'poor'. To curb air pollution, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led government in Delhi has announced implementation of odd-even scheme from Nov 04-15.

2 arrested with cash over 1 lakh USD, Rs 26,000 in WB's Siliguri

New Delhi, Nov 12 (ANI): A green corridor was provided from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Fortis Hospital in Okhla for transportation of a human heart. Heart was brought from Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada on November 12. A distance of 22.5 kms was covered in 19.5 minutes from airport to the hospital.

Guru Nanak Dev had spent 14 years of his early life at Sultanpur Lodhi and used to take daily bath in holy rivulet Kali Bein. Meanwhile, in Delhi, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib were also illuminated ahead of Prakash Parv.

2 terrorists neutralised by security forces during encounter in J-K's Bandipora

Bandipora (J-K), Nov 11 (ANI): Two terrorists have been neutralised by the security forces in Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir on November 11. The gun fight took place in Lawdara village. Arms and ammunition have also been seized. According to IGP of Kashmir zone, S.P Pani, the operation was based on specific information and both terrorists were linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba. One terrorist has been identified and probe is underway.

Shiv Sena is willing to form govt in Maharashtra: Aaditya Thackeray after meeting Governor

We asked him for at least two days time but we weren't given time. The claim (to form government) wasn't denied but the time was. We will continue to put in efforts to form government in the state." "Both parties (Congress-NCP) have been speaking to us and MLAs have been speaking to us. As talks are on, as 2nd largest party it was our right to come here," he added. "We have expressed our willingness to form government and we have asked for extension of 48 hours to fulfill our procedure," he further stated.

JNU protest: Situation under control, says Delhi Police PRO

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Speaking on the protest by JNU students, Delhi Police PRO Mandeep S Randhawa on November 11 said that the police, while exercising restraint, have kept the situation under control. "We are in contact with Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) authorities as well as students. Our talks with the students are on," said Randhawa. A massive scuffle broke out between the protesting students and police outside Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) campus in the national capital on November 11. The protest was organised by Jawaharlal Nehru Students' Union (JNUSU) over various issues including hostel fee hike.

Maharashtra tussle: Further discussion will take place on Nov 12 in Mumbai, says Kharge

New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): Congress general secretary Mallikarjun Kharge on November 11 said that further discussion on alliance between Congress and Shiv Sena for forming the government in Maharashtra will take place tomorrow on November 12. "Discussion will take place in Mumbai tomorrow," said Kharge. He added that Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi had spoken to Sharad Pawar. "We've already issued a press note and we've mentioned that we've already discussed with working committee members and our PCC leaders. Our AICC President has spoken to Sharad Pawar ji," said Kharge. The development came just after Shiv Sena's Aaditya Thackeray met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhavan in Mumbai.
