Dibrugarh (Assam), Oct 29 (ANI): A Durga Idol became a center of attraction for visitors in Assam's Dibrugarh. The Durga Idol was prepared with several kinds of flexible wires. It took 15 days to prepare the idol of Goddess Durga. Different coloured wires were used in order to prepare the idol. The idol is placed at Santipara Kalibadi Committee in Barbaruah Purnananda Ward of Dibrugarh.
New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): A delegation of European Union (EU) parliamentarians will soon leave for visiting Jammu and Kashmir from the national capital on October 29. The delegation of 27 EU MPs is scheduled to visit Kashmir today. Their visit will give them a clear view of the development and governance priorities of the JandK region. While speaking to ANI, the member of European Parliament from Wales, Nathan Gill said, "It is a good opportunity for us to go into Kashmir as a foreign delegation and to be able to see firsthand for ourselves what is happening on the ground." This is the first visit by an international group in JandK since the Centre's move of abrogating Article 370.
New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): From today onwards, women in Delhi will be able to travel for free in DTC (Delhi Transport Corporation) buses. One of the women travellers said, "It's a good initiative by Delhi government." During his Independence Day speech, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that free rides for women in DTC buses will be started from October 29, which is 'Bhai Dooj'.
Trichy (Tamil Nadu), Oct 29 (ANI): After a three-day-long struggle, the two-year-old boy, who had fallen down in a borewell was found dead in the wee hours of October 29. The body of Sujith Wilson was brought for cremation in Pudur area of Trichy. The two-year-old boy lost his life after falling into a borewell on October 25. People paid tribute to Sujith Wilson in large numbers. Earlier, his body was being taken to his residence in Nadukattupatti following an autopsy. The body of the deceased minor was taken out by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team and taken to the hospital. On October 25, Sujith fell into the borewell while playing near his house at about 5:30 pm. Later, he slipped further down into the borewell, with an official stating that Wilson was stuck at a depth of 88 feet. More than six crews from NDRF, as well as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), were deployed to rescue Sujith.
Imphal (Manipur), Oct 29 (ANI): Locals of Imphal thronged the markets ahead of the festival of Ningol Chakouba celebrated by people of Manipur. On this festival, married daughters are invited to parental house for a grand feast. The word 'Ningol' means daughter and 'Chakouba' means feast. The festival reinforces the bond that exists between siblings and parents. The occasion is observed on the second day of new moon in the Manipuri month Hiyangei.
New Delhi, Oct 29 (ANI): A recent study has discovered that community-based health programs successfully improved the health of mothers and babies in India, Nigeria, and Ethiopia. To assess the impact of community-based health interventions linked to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, an international team of researchers looked at eight essential maternal and newborn health indicators in rural Nigeria, Ethiopia, and India, representing more than 22 million people. Indicators included antenatal and postnatal care, births in health care facilities, hygienic umbilical cord care, breastfeeding initiation and more. The researchers found some improvements; for example, more women in Ethiopia and Uttar Pradesh, India had access to maternity care in 2015 than in 2012. Trichy (TN), Oct 29 (ANI): 2- year-old boy who was trapped in a borewell in Tamil Nadu's Trichy passed away on October 29. Earlier, TN government official confirmed that his body was in highly decomposed state. Government officials and rescue workers had been working continuously for the last 80 plus hours to retrieve the child. However, the digging process was stopped at a depth of 65 feet of the borewell. On October 25, Wilson fell into the borewell while playing near his house at about 5:30 pm in Trichy. Later, he slipped further down into the borewell. More than six crews from the NDRF, as well as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were deployed to rescue Wilson. A medical team was also providing oxygen to the boy.
Indore (MP), Oct 29 (ANI): Massive fire broke out at a godown located at the backside of Apollo Hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Indore. Fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames. Further investigation is underway. More details are awaited. Hospital administration informed that due to the smoke that entered on 5th and 6th floor as well as ICU, 45 patients were shifted to the ground floor. Around 2-3 patients were shifted to another hospital.

Shimla (HP), Oct 29 (ANI): Several devotees recently gathered in Dhami village of Shimla to appease Goddess Kali through the ancient practice of stone pelting. The historic ritual involves devotees hitting each other with stones till they bleed. Their blood is then offered to Goddess Kali as a symbol of victory of good over evil. Devotees from different tribes participated in procession, beating drums and playing flutes. They form teams and pelt stones at each other. Vadodara (Gujarat), Oct 28 (ANI): The Swaminarayan Temple in Vadodara celebrated 'Govardhan Puja' in a unique way on October 28. 3500 different types of food items were offered to the deities at the temple to celebrate the festival. The different types of dishes were made as a part of 'Annakoot Puja'. Devotees thronged to the temple in large numbers to offer prayers. 'Govardhan Puja' also known as 'Annakoot Puja', is a Hindu festival that is celebrated a day after Diwali. Mumbai, Oct 28 (ANI): The Haji Ali Dargah is a mosque located on a small island off the coast of Worli in the southern part of Mumbai metropolitan city of India. Built in the year 1431 in memory of a Saint Sayyed Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, the Dargah has served as a cynosure of communal harmony for generations.
