Amid festival and wedding season, veggie prices soar in markets

Hyderabad /Delhi, Oct 10 (ANI): Amid the festival and wedding season, people are bearing brunt of soaring prices of vegetables. Common people are suffering the most due to surge. Almost all the vegetables have got significantly costly in parts of country. "I sold tomatoes at Rs 8-10 per kg about 15 days ago, now I am selling tomatoes at Rs 60 per kilogram. Onion prices have also risen from Rs 15-18 to Rs 60 per kilogram. Prices have been mainly affected due to heavy rains," a vegetable seller from Hyderabad said.

IT Dept raids former Karnataka Deputy CM G Parameshwara's residence

Tumakuru (Karnataka), Oct 10 (ANI): The Income Tax Department conducted raid at former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara's residence. Income Tax Dept has found irregularities in medical college run by a trust related to him. Around 30 premises have been covered in these raids. However, while reacting on the questions over raid the senior Congress leader, G Parameshwara said that he is not aware of the raid.

CM Gehlot directs for regular progress review of budget announcements

Jaipur (Rajasthan), October 10 (ANI): A review meeting on implementation of amended budget 2019-20 was recently organized at Chief Minister's office in the chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot in Jaipur. In the meeting, Chief Minister said that the aspirations of the people and timely implementation of budget announcements should be ensured as per their expectations. Officers should solemnly speed up the work on budget announcements made. He also instructed the Chief Secretary to regularly review the progress of budget announcements at his level. CM said that the amended budget was passed at the end of July which left less time for their implementation. People must see the implementation of budget announcements before the next budget so that they could get their benefits. Tejashwi slams BJP-JDU, says one ally busy in crime another in corruption

PMC Bank crisis: Finance Ministry, RBI to study issue together, says FM Sitharaman

Mumbai, Oct 10 (ANI): Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman who today met account holders of PMC Bank in Mumbai said that the crisis is not directly related to Finance Ministry as RBI is its regulator. "I've asked the secretaries of the ministry to study in detail as to what is happening. Representatives of RBI will also be there to understand shortcomings, what happened, and also to therefore, if necessary, look at the ways in which the respective acts will have to be amended," said Finance Minister. Her comments come amid protests by bank customers over limiting withdrawal amount by RBI from PMC to 25,000 and Economic Offence Wing's cases against loan defaulters Housing Development and Infrastructure Limited (HDIL) Directors Rakesh and Sarang Wadhwan.

VP Venkaiah Naidu leaves for his 5-day visit to Comoros, Sierra Leone

Caught on cam: Woman constable slaps devotee at Ajmer Sharif Dargah

Ajmer (Rajasthan), Oct 10 (ANI): A woman constable was seen slapping a devotee at Ajmer Sharif Dargah, Rajasthan in a video that has gone viral. According to Kunwar Rashtradeep, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ajmer, the devotee was taking a toy which looked like a weapon, inside the dargah premises which was not allowed inside. "The woman constable tried to stop the devotee who started an argument with the former. The devotee also abused the woman constable. Now, we are further investigating the matter," said Rashtradeep.

Ghaziabad's Hindon Airport to be operational for commercial flight from Oct 11

Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Oct 11 (ANI): After an eight-month-long wait, the Hindon Airport is ready for the first flight on October 11. The first flight from Hindon will be from the Heritage Aviation Company. CEO of Heritage Aviation Private Limited, Rohit Mathur said, "A 9-seater plane will take off from Pithoragarh to Hindon at 11:30 am, and it will leave for Pithoragarh from Hindon at 1 pm. Thursday will be an off day. After Pithoragarh, we are also trying to start operations on Shimla route." The Hindon airport had been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, since then there had been many assumptions about the first flight from it. The starting of flight service from Hindon will greatly reduce the burden on the New Delhi airport and will also enable passengers from the western Uttar Pradesh region to save time.
