New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): The Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa paid tribute at the National War Memorial in the national capital on September 30. He paid tribute at the memorial ahead of his retirement today. BS Dhanoa is the 25th Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force. He took over the charge of IAF Chief on January 01, 2017.

Congress screening committee holds meeting ahead of Haryana polls

New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): Ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections slated for next month, the screening committee of the Congress party on Sunday held meeting in Delhi. Former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Madhusudan Mistry and Devender Yadav among others were present in the meeting. While speaking to mediapersons, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja said, "It'll now go to CEC, meeting will be held day after tomorrow under chairmanship of Sonia." The Election Commission of India (ECI) has slated the single-phase voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly elections on October 21, while the counting of votes will take place on October 24.

11 critically injured after boiler bursts at cement plant in Chittorgarh

Chittorgarh (Rajasthan), Sep 30 (ANI): At least 15 people got injured and 11 are critical after boiler at a cement plant burst. The incident happened in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh on September 29. While speaking to mediaperson, Chittorgarh district collector, Chetan Ram Deora said, "The critically injured have more than 70% burns, referred them to Ravindra Nath Tagore Medical College, Udaipur. We have started an administrative level inquiry into the matter. We will get the report within 10 days. Legal action will be taken against those who were found to be negligent." Police investigating is on in the matter.

Batote encounter: Family mourns death of Naik Rajendra Singh

Jaisalmer (Rajasthan)/ Ramban (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep 29 (ANI): People at the native place of Naik Rajendra Singh condoled the death of soldier, who was killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban. Rajendra Singh hails from Mohangarh in Jaisalmer. His body will be flown to his home town on September 29 where his last rites will be performed. Security forces shot dead three terrorists who were holding hostage a civilian inside a house in Batote town of Ramban district. Earlier in the day, DGP Dilbagh Singh visited the Batote encounter site and also met security personnel.

Block Development Council elections in JandK on Oct 24: State CEO

Srinagar (JandK), Sep 29 (ANI): In continuation with the panchayat elections held in Jammu and Kashmir in late 2018, state's election body announced the polls for Block Development Council which will be conducted on 310 out of 316 blocks across the state on October 24. The counting of votes will be done the same day. "Block Development Council elections will be held in 310 blocks out of 316 blocks in the state on 24 Oct from 9 am till 1 pm across JandK. Counting of votes will start at 3 pm on the same day," said Shailendra Kumar, Chief Electoral Officer, JandK.

Bhutan helicopter crash: Slain Lt Col Rajneesh Parmar accorded full state honours

Bihar flood: Death toll mounts to 17 due to incessant rainfall

Patna (Bihar), Sep 29 (ANI): Around 24 districts of Bihar including Patna were badly hit after incessant rains lashed the state on September 28. Locals are facing several problems in the low-lying areas due to continuous rainfall. The death toll has mounted to 17 due to floods and incessant rainfall. The teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the city to rescue locals stranded due to flood. Heavy rain lashed wide areas of Patna causing water-logging problem. Patna remained the worst affected after several localities in the city were left water-logged after the rains. Normal life was thrown out of gear after rainwater entered in the residential areas and houses were submerged under knee-deep water.

Group of miscreants loot 2 flats in Haryana's Gurugram

Heavy rainfall affects Durga Puja preparations in WB's Siliguri

Siliguri (West Bengal), Sep 29 (ANI): Continuous rainfall has affected Durga Puja preparations in several districts of North Bengal including Siliguri. The pandal workers have stopped their work due to the rainfall. According to the organisers in Siliguri, they somehow managed 60 per cent work of the pandal decoration on the outer parts, but rest is becoming very tough to make shape."We are worried as Durga Puja is approaching and we are not yet ready with the pandal. We are unable to complete decorations in the outer part of pandal due to rainfall," local told ANI.
