Bern (Switzerland), Sep 13 (ANI): President Ram Nath Kovind met and greeted Indian Diaspora in Switzerland's Bern. He received a warm welcome by the Indian community. While addressing them, President Kovind said, "Both India and Switzerland have world's largest and oldest democracy. India has 900 million electorates. There are over 200 Swiss companies operating in India." President Kovind is currently on a 3-nation tour to Iceland, Switzerland and Slovenia.
New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): Congress leader DK Shivakumar has been discharged from Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital in Delhi. He was admitted to hospital after complained of being unwell. Shivakumar has now been taken to Tughlak Road Police Station. He was arrested by ED in connection with the alleged money laundering case on September 03.
New Delhi, Sep 13 (ANI): A year since the Supreme Court overturned Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, the LGBT community, which gathered for a celebration, said as far as equal rights for the group were concerned, there still remains a long way to go. The British High Commission marked one year of the landmark judgement with an event that celebrated the achievements of the community and aimed at showing the British mission's solidarity with the LGBT community in India. On September 6, 2018, the Supreme Court struck down the colonial-era Section 377 IPC which criminalised gay sex. A five-judge constitutional bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Dipak Misra and comprising Justices DY Chandrachud, Rohinton Fali Nariman, AM Khanwilkar and Indu Malhotra, gave the verdict on a bunch of petitions filed to scrap the law.
Washington (USA), Sep 13 (ANI): A joint military training, Exercise Yudh Abhyas-2019 is being conducted in Washington. The training is organised at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. As part of ongoing Indo-US defence cooperation, it is being conducted from September 5 to 18. Exercise Yudh Abhyas is one of the largest joint running military training and defence corporation endeavors between India and USA. Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Sep 13 (ANI): The special squads of Khordha district administration on Thursday visited several schools to check the weight of school bags. Acting upon the Odisha High Court's directive, the district administration has formed special squads to monitor the implementation of Ministry of Human Resource Development's (MHRD) guidelines on the weight of school bags in all schools in Khordha district including the capital city of Bhubaneswar. The squad also checked if the schools are following the NCERT prescribed syllabus and books or not. The Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) in October last year had directed all States and Union Territories to draw up guidelines for reducing the weight of schools bags. According to MHRD guidelines, the maximum weight of the school bag for students of Class 1 and 2 should not exceed 1.5 kg, for Class 3 to 5 not more than 3 kg, for Class 6 to 8 about 4 kg, for Class 9 and 10 4.5 kg and for Class 10, it should not be more th
Hyderabad, Sep 13 (ANI): The annual auction of the famed Balapur laddu of Lord Ganesha, fetched a record high price of Rs 17.6 lakh in Hyderabad on September 12. The auction on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi was won by Kolam Ram Reddy, who won the auction. The open auction held near 'pandal' premises. The practice of auctioning the laddu, which is considered auspicious by locals, was started in the year 1994.
Geneva (Switzerland), Sep 13 (ANI): Secretary General of World Sindhi Congress, Lakhu Luhana called upon Pakistan and requested UN Human Rights Council to suspend its membership until Pakistan stop violence against religious minorities. Luhana said, "They (Pakistan) want resources and land of Sindh but not the people of Sindh. They are abducting political activists, forcing minorities to leave, taking decisions against historical rights of Sindhi people, creating social and civil conflicts. We demanded today from the international community to press upon Pakistan, UN Human Rights Council should suspend its membership until all the abducted are freed, until they stop the violence against religious minorities."

Shivamogga (Karnataka), Sep 12 (ANI): Good news of the for the fans of iconic television series Malgudi Days, as the Arasalu railway station in Shivamogga district is all set to be renamed as Malgudi railway station. During the eighties and nineties, Malgudi Days was one of the favourite television series. Still now the soothing jingle created by L Vaidyanathan, echoes among people. In addition, a Malgudi Days museum is also being constructed near the present railway station, which was featured as Malgudi railway station in the series. The artists are leaving no stone unturned to bring the fictional station of Malgudi to life. The iconic television series was adapted from the collection of classic short stories written by Indian writer RK Narayan. The project is being funded jointly by South-Western railways and local Shivamogga Member of Parliament Raghavendra.
Kathua (JandK), Sep 12 (ANI): JandK Police on Sep 12 arrested three terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and seized a truck carrying arms and ammunition. The truck was on its way to Kashmir from Punjab, and was loaded with 4 AK-56, 2 AK-47, 6 magazines and 180 live rounds. While speaking to ANI, Kathua SSP Shridhar Patil said, "Today, we apprehended 3 members of JeM and seized 4 AK-56, and 2 AK-47, 6 magazines and 180 live rounds and Rs 11000 in cash. The truck was coming from Punjab side and going towards Kashmir valley. We'll increase search operations along Punjab border."
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Sep 12 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Transport Minister Govind Singh Rajput reacted on the amendments in Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019. He called it a 'Tughlaqi' order. He said, "Union government's Motor Vehicle Act is a 'Tughlaqi' order. Most of the fines are more than what common man can afford. I will discuss the matter with the Chief Minister and try to lessen the burden wherever required".
New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Ministery of External Affairs clarified on Thursday that there is no shortage of medicines in the Jammu and Kashmir which is going through restrictions since the abrogation of Article 370. While addressing a press conference in New Delhi on September 12, Spokesperson of MEA, Raveesh Kumar, said, "All essential supplies including 24*7 electricity, water, healthcare and education and sanitation are being ensured. Hospitals and medical are functioning normally, there is no shortage of medicines. 95% of healthcare professionals are on duty in Jammu and Kashmir." The response came against some reports which claimed that there is shortage of medicines in JandK.

People in large numbers took part in street protest. The final list of National Register of Citizens for Assam was released on August 31, 2019. Over 19 lakh citizens were not included in the list.
New Delhi, Sep 12 (ANI): Raveesh Kumar, MEA Spokesperson informed that Indi urged Pakistan to show some flexibility regarding Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara. While speaking at the press conference, Raveesh Kumar said, "Pakistan did not agree to initial number which we had proposed, that this is the number that should be allowed to visit, citing constraints on the infrastructure side. We have urged Pakistan to show some flexibility." Pakistan on September 12 decided that the pilgrims will be charged USD 20 as service fees to visit Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara. During the meeting that took place earlier this month, both the sides agreed on visa-free travel by Indian pilgrims to Kartarpur Sahib Gurudwara.
