Keonjhar (Odisha), Aug 13 (ANI): A man, Sudya Mahakud started staying atop a tree on a temporary structure after his house was damaged by wild elephants in Odisha's Keonjhar district. He is the resident of Kusumita village. The Forest Department started tracking for the movement of elephants. Sadar Range officer of Forest Department, Keonjhar said, "We're trying our best to compensate him, paperwork being done. We also talked to him and made him understand. He has now returned to the village." He further said, "A squad has been formed by forest dept to track the movement of elephants."
New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): French Ambassador to India Alexandre Ziegler conferred Indian chef Priyam Chatterjee with the distinction of Chevalier de I'Ordre du Merite Agricole, also known as the Order of Agricultural Merit on August 12. Chatterjee, 30, was the first Indian chef to be conferred this honour, which comes in recognition of his contribution to reinventing the gastronomic scene here. Having trained under eminent French chefs, the Kolkata-based chef is known to honour French cuisine by revisiting the traditional dishes of his native place. Chatterjee's masterful plating, his eccentric cooking style and his creative dishes draw upon his Bengali roots, the French influence in his life and his love for music and art. Chatterjee began his training under Chef Jean-Claude Fugier at Park Hyatt in Hyderabad, before moving on to Fauchon in Oman. He has also cooked with French Chef Ernest Darren Alford, Michelin-starred chefs, Spanish Koldo Royo, and Italian Matteo Grandi.
Bhilwara (Rajasthan), Aug 13 (ANI): A bust of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was vandalised by unidentified miscreants in Shahpura city of Rajasthan's Bhilwara. Police officials reached at the spot and investigation is underway for the matter. Police official said, "It was vandalised by unidentified persons late night on Sunday. Teams have been formed to investigate the matter."
Kurseong (West Bengal), Aug 13 (ANI): 'Automated Elephant Tracking Devices' have been installed in forest areas of West Bengal's Kurseong by forest department in collaboration with NGO. Device has four sensors and a microcontroller, which can track elephants in 200 meter radius and alert concerned official.
Badaun (UP), Aug 13 (ANI): Seven persons, including two children, died while five other people sustained grave injuries after truck carrying wheat sacks overturned late night on August 12 in Uttar Pradesh's Badaun. According to the officials, the truck overturned after it applied sudden brakes on the road. "Chief Minister Office has announced 2 lakh compensation for the deceased and 50 thousand for injured," told Dataganj's MLA Rajiv Kumar Singh.
New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): The Delhi Police received a hoax bomb threat call for Terminal-2 of Airport, which affected flight operations between 8.50 pm and 10 pm. Soon after receiving the information, the departure area was evacuated and all passengers were moved to gate no-4 at the departure level, while arriving passengers were on hold inside planes. After detailed search operation for about an hour by the BDS and the CISF, it was found to be a hoax. Normalcy returned at the airport after thorough check later.

New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): A recent study has found that women with breast cancer who use aspirin have higher mortality risk following cancer. The study was published in the journal 'Cancer'.According to the researchers at the University of North Carolina, the reason for this effect could be explained by DNA methylation of genes in breast cancer tumours or peripheral blood. This study is the first to examine the effect of DNA methylation in breast tumour tissues and cells circulating in the patients' surrounding blood on the association between aspirin use and mortality in women with breast cancer. The team of researchers analysed data from 1,266 women with breast cancer who were followed for subsequent mortality.
Mayurbhanj (Odisha), Aug 13 (ANI): A herd of elephants strayed into a village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj. Wild elephants destroyed crops and few huts in the area. Locals alleged that there is lack of vigilance from forest departments. Terrified locals demand trained officials to avoid elephant-man conflict.
New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that will send you notifications related to a tweet you are interested in.In an official tweet, Twitter explained that the new feature provides notifications when there is a new reply to a tweet you are following. One can choose whether to receive Top, All, or None in terms of reply alerts. The feature is currently being tested on iOS and Android. It is unclear whether the feature will be rolled out to all versions.

Nalanda (Bihar), Aug 13 (ANI): A woman from Bihar's Nalanda tried to sell her 2 children. She is suffering from tuberculosis. After the media reports, she has been admitted to a hospital. "As soon as I got to know about it, I admitted her at the hospital. Her children are suffering from malnutrition; they have also been admitted at the hospital. All of them are receiving medical treatment. The woman's husband had left her and she is very poor," told Hospital Manager Surjeet Kumar.

Mansarovar (Tibet Autonomous Region), Aug 13 (ANI): The 13th batch of Pilgrims for Kailash Mansarovar yatra conducted Yagna near Mansarovar lake. The batch started their Yatra on 30th July."This is very auspicious day for all of us, as Monday is considered very auspicious day in context of Lord Shiva. We carried out a small Yagna for wellbeing of our families and batch-mates," told Liaison Officer Surinder Grover to ANI. 28 batches comprising of 50 pilgrims each are participating in the Kailash Mansarovar pilgrimage through a treacherous route that crosses the territorial boundaries of India, Nepal, and China this year. According to the Hinduism, the Mansarovar lake was first created in the mind of Brahma after which it manifested on Earth. Hence it is called "Manasa sarovaram", which is a combination of the Sanskrit words for "mind" and "lake". The lake is also supposed to be the summer abode of the hamsa.
Mumbai, Aug 12 (ANI): After former Pakistan high commissioner to India Abdul Basit alleged that he managed to "influence" the writings of Indian columnist Shobhaa De, the latter said she feels "deeply insulted" on Basit's remark. De added that what Basit was trying to do was dangerous and malicious to anybody who believes in truth. De further said she is a patriotic Indian, who has built her career on credibility and positive journalism for over 40 years.

Patna (Bihar), Aug 12 (ANI): After Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said the government "burnt their hands in fire" by revoking Article 370, and cautioned them to be careful otherwise the country will "lose" Kashmir, Union Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government has no problem if the former wants to see his face in Pakistan. Prasad added that the more Digvijaya speaks, the more BJP's vote share increases and the opposite happens to Congress. The BJP leader also asked the new interim Congress president Sonia Gandhi to clarify whether Singh's comment was his own or their party also agrees to it.

Ranchi (Jharkhand), Aug 12 (ANI): Mohammad Mufiz has returned to Ranchi on occasion of Eid-Al-Adha on August 12. He was stuck in Saudi Arabia for past 3 months. After the intervention of Chief Minister Raghubar Das, he got an emergency passport to return to his native state Ranchi. Speaking to ANI, his brother said, "A friend of him took him to Saudi on a fake passport and said he will get ?50,000/month. When he got there, the company offered him only ?15,000 and stopped paying that also after a few months. They even filed a case against him. So we wrote to Jharkhand CM."
Srinagar (J-K), Aug 12 (ANI): Rohit Kansal, Secretary of Planning Development - Monitoring Department in Srinagar, told reporters that locals in the state celebrated Eid peacefully on August 12. While speaking to ANI, Rohit Kansal said, "The District and Divisional Administration carried out a number of activities including interacting with maulvis, people, organising committees, and as a result, we've had an extremely peaceful and relaxed Eid today." He added, "There have been some reports in the media about firing by security agencies and deaths. The police carried out a detailed briefing and I would like to reiterate and categorically deny that no firing incident has happened in J-K. I reiterate that not a single bullet has been fired by the security agencies nor there has been any casualty."
