2 critically injured in plane crash in Australia

Melbourne (Australia), Aug 04 (ANI): At least two persons were critically injured after an aircraft suffered a light crash in a paddock near Melbourne. Firefighters had to free the men by cutting open the wreckage after dousing it in fire retardant. The injured were shifted to a hospital as they suffered several injuries. The cause of the incident is yet to be known.

Massive fire engulfs Dubai residential skyscraper

Dubai (U.A.E), Aug 04 (ANI): A massive fire engulfed the tallest residential building in Dubai. The flames shot up the sides of the Torch tower in the upscale Marina district in the second blaze at the building since 2015, with burning debris flying down the sides of the building. Several fire tenders reached the spot to control the blaze. However, no causality has been reported so far.

2 killed, dozens injured in munitions depot blast in Georgia

Abkhazia (Georgia), Aug 03 (ANI): At least two persons were killed and dozens injured after explosions shook through a munitions depot in Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia on Wednesday. The blasts shook a military arsenal in the village of Primorskoye in Gudauta region, with ripples being felt by locals living near the depot. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

2 killed as plane makes emergency landing on Portuguese beach

Lisbon (Portugal), Aug 03 (ANI): At least two people were killed after a plane made an emergency landing on a beach near Lisbon. The plane ran over a man and a child at Sao Joao da Caparica beach. Reportedly, the plane hit the man first, then travelled another 50 metres with a broken wing before hitting the child. The cause of the emergency landing is not known yet. Located close to the Portugal capital, Sao Joao de Caparica beach draws huge crowd in August. Some sunbathers said the plane appeared to be gliding, as they heard no engine noise.

RJP-N holds meeting to discuss party's future, participation in 3rd phase of local elections

Kathmandu (Nepal) Aug 3, (ANI): Office bearers and prominent leaders of Rashtriya Janata Party- Nepal, an amalgamation of six Madhesh-based parties, congregated in Kathmandu to discuss the future of the party. The agenda of the meeting was to take a call on the party's participation in the third phase of the local elections and to further strategize the demand of Constitution amendment, which Madhesh leaders have been seeking since the promulgation of constitution in September 2015.As many as 134 members present at the venue also discussed about the portfolio and the hierarchy row over, which party appears to have been breaking up with Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party leader Hrideyesh Tripathy threatening to form a separate party of his own.

Tropical Storm Emily hits Miami leaving streets submerged

Miami (Florida), Aug 02 (ANI): Tropical Depression Emily moving up the Southeast coast left streets of Miami underwater on Tuesday. A flash flood advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for parts of Miami-Dade County. Many drivers, who continued to drive through flooded roads, were left stranded. No injuries have been reported so far, though lightning struck a diesel truck. Several areas of Miami are left without power after the storm.

Turkey coup trail begins against 500 suspects

Ankara (Turkey), Aug 02 (ANI): The massive trial against nearly 500 suspects, who are accused of leading last year's failed coup attempt in Turkey and carrying out attacks from an air base in the capital Ankara, started on Tuesday. The suspects include a number of generals and military pilots. The United States based cleric Fethullah Gulen is the main defendant in the case. Gulen is the person who is blamed by the government for the coup and the 76-year-old will be tried in absentia. Former Air Force commander Akin Ozturk and other defendants stationed at an Ankara air base are accused of directing the coup and bombing key government buildings, including the parliament. Families of killed or wounded people during the coup flock outside the court premises and protested against the suspects. The protest turned violent when some protestors tried to pelt stones at accused and break through the police lines.

RJP-N leaders stage demonstration against government

Birgunj (Nepal) Aug, 2 (ANI): Accusing the government of failing to address its demands, including an amendment in the Constitution, leaders and activists of Rashtriya Janata Party-Nepal staged a demonstration against the government in Birgunj. Leaders maintained that Deuba government has been indifferent to the plight of Madhesis and has not moved ahead in finding a solution to Madhesi issues. The Madhesi leaders are yet take a call on their participation in the third phase of the local elections and have vowed to disrupt the elections if their demands are not met. The Rashtriya Janata Party didn't participate in the first and second phase of the local body polls and has persistently been demanding the solution of the Madhesi issue before the conduct of the third phase.

6 injured after car runs over crowd

Los Angeles (United States), July 31 (ANI): At least six people were injured after a car ploughed into a crowd in mid-Wilshire, Los Angeles. One of the injured is in critical condition. The cause of crash has not yet been established and it is not clear whether the driver intentionally steered into the crowd. The crash took place on the West Pico Boulevard.

Velodrome built for Rio Olympics damaged by fire

Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), July 31 (ANI): A massive fire broke out at Brazil's Olympic velodrome in the wee hours of Sunday. The fire fighters doused the furious flames in Rio de Janeiro's Olympic Park after battling for hours. The blaze was reportedly caused by a burning flying lantern that fell on the building. The practice of making small hot air balloons is a common in Brazil, especially during the hot, dry months of June and July. Reacting to it, authorities have launched annual campaigns to criminalise the practice. Flying balloons can hamper aircraft and falling balloons can damage property and start forest fires.

Protest erupts in Gilgit-Baltistan over CPEC

Gilgit, July 30 (ANI): In the recent protests against China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Gilgit-Baltistan, hundreds of demonstrators gathered on the streets of Gilgit. They are protesting against the project as they fear it will create a huge ecological imbalance. Large number of people in the region have been displaced as their houses have been demolished and they are claiming that the government has not compensated them for their lands as had been promised. The people are also protesting as they claim that the multi-billion dollar project will hardly benefit them and it is a deliberate attempt to change the demography of the region.

ISI, Pak Army used judiciary as weapon to target Sharif: Exiled Sindhi leader

Frankfurt (Germany), July 29 (ANI): Speaking on existing political crisis in Pakistan, Exiled Sindhi nationalist leader and chairman of the Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) Shafi Burfat said that Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Pakistan Army used Pakistan's judiciary system as a weapon to target ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Burfat said the verdict of disqualifying the Prime Minister was also due to differences between the army and the politicians of Punjab province. Burfat claimed that Pakistan Army wants to take control of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and convey a message to China that its role in such projects is important and without the Pakistan Army support.

Nepal marks Naag Panchami and Rakshya Bandhan festival

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 29 (ANI): Nepal on Friday celebrated Naag Panchami and Rakshya Bandhan festival, which falls on the same day after 27 years. Locals in Kathmandu city thronged the temples in early hours to worship the serpent deities. On this day, people in Nepal stick the pictures of the serpentine deity on the main entrance of their houses to prevent themselves from lightning, fire, snake, scorpion and other poisonous snakes.The people in Nepal also celebrated the festival of Raskhya Bandhan as the lunar eclipse in the country has pushed forward. In India, the Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 7. On this occasion, sisters tie a sacred thread on their brother's wrist and pray for their safety.

Palestinians clash with Israeli police after prayers

Jerusalem (Israel), July 29 (ANI): After two weeks of snowballing tension, the main prayer session at Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque ended with clashes, but ones which were less violent than expected, with Israel setting an age-limit on who could attend. Extra police stood guard throughout the walled Old City, some wearing riot gear, some on horseback, in anticipation of mass protests. As the prayers ended, Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli officers in several hot-spots. Some protesters threw bottles at the police who replied with stun grenades to disperse the crowd. Several Palestinians were treated by paramedics on site, but no major injuries were reported.

Kelly, ending a turbulent six-month tenure. Trump said that John Kelly will do a fantastic job as he has been a star, has done an incredible job thus far and is respected by everybody. Kelly was one of three retired generals at the top of Trump's administration replacing Priebus, who was seen as a bridge to the Republican Party establishment.
