Paris (France), June 03 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the fallen soldiers at Arc de Triomphe in Paris's Charles de Gaulle on Saturday. Arc de Triomphe is one of the most famous monuments in Paris. PM Modi arrived in Paris on Saturday. It's the final leg of his six-day, four-nation European trip with a visit to France. Earlier, PM Modi and newly-elected French President Emmanuel Macron gave a joint statement in Paris. PM Modi was earlier in Russia, where he met Russian President Vladimir Putin and other dignitaries.

ICC Champions Trophy: Men in blue sweat themselves day before much-awaited Indo-Pak match

Birmingham (London), June 03 (ANI): Unhappy over the rainy weather on Friday, which bound men in blue to practise indoors, team India sweat themselves in a sunny day just day before the much-awaited match on Sunday. Nepal Parliament gets ready to choose new Prime Minister

Kathmandu, Nepal June 3(ANI): The Parliament of Nepal is all set to choose their new premier on Sunday. As per the schedule of the Parliament Secretariat, the period of filling the nominations will be from 11 am to 4pm on Saturday and the list vying candidates will be published at around 4.30 pm the same day. Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari had earlier sent a letter to the Parliament earlier, but due to the disruption by the Opposition the procedure of choosing the new Prime Minister was halted. Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar will present the letter and then go for the voting over the proposal. Meanwhile, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is expected to be next premier of Nepal as the Nepali Congress has a strong hold of 207 votes and the alliance of Maoist Centre and Democratic Forum is expected to raise the tally to 306. The Opposition, Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist, has reinstated to halt parliamentary proceeding till there is no continuation of vote

PM Modi arrives in Paris to discuss terrorism, climate change

Nepal student union demand counting of votes to be resumed in Bharatpur

Kathmandu, Nepal June 2(ANI): The student union of the opposition Communist Party of Nepal-Unified Marxist Leninist came down on the streets to protest, demanding the counting of the votes to resume after they were stalled. After the successful commencement of the first phase of the local elections on 14th may the vote count in Bharatpur was stalled as 90 ballots papers were found torn by cadres of the Maoist centre. As per the law regarding the local polls re-polling should be done in the place if the ballot papers are torn but opposition UML has shown reluctance towards it demanding for the continuation of the vote count. Prime Minister of the then government Pushpa Kamal Dahal also have voted from Chitwan Bharatpur in district headquarter of Chitwan on 14th May.

Ethnic minorities in Nepal decide to boycott local elections

Kathmandu, Nepal June 1(ANI): The commencement of Phase II of the local polls in Nepal is pushed further into doubt as the agitating ethnic minorities of Nepal have shown their reluctance to go for the poll. Rajendra Mahato, a member of the Chairman Committee of the Rastriya Janata Party which was formed after the merger of 6 agitating Madhesh based parties stressed on the creation of favorable environment for the polls. The care taker government of Nepal has deferred the date for phase-II with the expectation of the participation of protesting ethnic minorities in it. As the agitating parties are in talks with various groups, Mahato claimed that they only have the pressure from the people of Southern Plains to go for the protest. The constitution which was formed in 2015 and has been opposed by ethnic minorities has set the timeline of January 2018 to hold three tire elections namely: local, provincial and the center.

Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari called all the political parties to go for election and choose new Prime Minister

Kathmandu, Nepal, June 1 (ANI): After the expiration of one week time for the creation of new government, Nepal President Bidhya Devi Bhandari called all the parties to go for election to choose new Prime Minister and cabinet. Pushpa Kamal Dahal who is now chairing the caretaker government stepped down from the post on 24th May 2017 as per the pact signed with the Nepali Congress. Nepali Congress is now expected to lead the next to be formed a government in support from the Maoist Center led by Dahal. House Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar have scheduled next parliamentary meeting on 4 June 2017. It is expected that Nepal will get its new Prime Minister by next week if events go ahead as per the schedule.

Madhesis oppose local elections by raising black flags

Kathmandu, Nepal, June 1 (ANI): A large number of protesters in Birgunj city joins anti-election rally as they demanded amendment in the constitution before the second phase of local elections.The protesters on motorcycles were holding black flags as they expressed their anger against the government.The protest was held under the aegis of Nepal Jan Adhikaar forum. Nepal's government postponed the second phase of local elections after the country's Muslim minority community voiced concern over clashing of the poll date with Ramzan.The Cabinet meeting has formally decided to hold the second phase of local level elections on 28 June. The second phase of local elections was scheduled to be held on 14 June.

Repeated poll deference worries Nepal voters

Kathmandu, Nepal May 31(ANI): The cabinet meeting of the care-taker government of Nepal on Wednesday announced the postponement of phase- II of the election which indeed has worried the voters. The PM Secretariat stated that a cabinet meeting which was held for about 10 minutes decided to postpone the election as it coincided with Ramzan. Now it will be held in June 28th. Previously, Pushpa Kamal Dahal led care taker government on Monday morning decided to hold the second phase election after 9 days of the previously scheduled date of 14th June. But the timely deference of poll date has raised doubt over the intention of government to hold the phase II polls in 4 provinces which has about 9 million eligible voters.

Baloch people come out on streets demanding removal of nuclear weapons from Balochistan

Sweden/ London/ Canada/ Germany, May 31 (ANI): Free Balochistan Movement, an international Baloch Lobbying Group which lobbies for the freedom of Balochistan in different countries of the world, held protests in several western countries, including Sweden, London, Canada and Germany, as part of its ongoing international awareness campaign for the freedom of Balochistan. Hundreds of protesters, including men, women and children, came out on streets against the atrocities and removal of nuclear weapons by Pakistanis in Balochistan.
