Madhesis are facing discrimination in Nepal: Mahanta Thakur

Bara (Nepal), Apr 04 (ANI): Chairman of Terai Madhesi Loktantrik Party Mahanta Thakur has accused the administration and judiciary in Nepal for discriminating against Madhesi people in the country. He was addressing a public rally in Bara district on Tuesday. The people of Madhes region are opposing the local elections scheduled to be held on May 14 as their demand for an amendment in the constitution has not been fulfilled by the government.

PM Dahal meets Madheshi delegation, assures them to address demands

Kathmandu, Nepal, April 03 (ANI): Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal met the delegation from Madheshi Ethnic Society Coordination Society and assured them about addressing the demands made by the agitating parties. Dahal claimed that the election slated for May 14 will commence successfully in a harmonious environment. He also claimed that the government is in an attempt to bring the agitating United Madhesi Democratic Front alongside the election. The delegation has submitted the letter to Prime Minister Dahal with demands to amend the constitution as earlier as possible.

Nepal government has failed to fulfill Madhesi demands: Mahanta Thakur

Birgunj (Nepal) April 03 (ANI): The chairman of the Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party, Mahanta Thakur, has criticized the government for not fulfilling the demands of Madhesi people. He said the Madhesis will boycott local elections if the government fails to make amendments in the Constitution as per the demands of the Madhesis. Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured many times that he would amend the new constitution, but his government is facing the opposition of the CPN-UML.

Over 150 killed in Colombia landslide

Newly appointed Indian Ambassador meets Nepal Prime Minister

Indian Army Chief to be conferred with honorary rank of Nepal General

Kathmandu, Nepal, March 29 (ANI): Chief of Indian Army General Bipin Rawat is set to be conferred Honary General of Nepal. A special programme will be organised at Residence of President of Nepal Shital Niwas where President Bidhya Devi Bhandari will be conferring the honorary title to Rawat. General Rawat is in Nepal on the invitation of Chief of Army Staff of Nepal Rajendra Chhetri. Rawat is scheduled to pay courtesy call to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Defense Minister Balkrishna Khand. Apart from the meetings, Rawat also will be visiting Indian Army Pension Camp in Pokhara and will address ex-Gurkhas. He will also visit Manang and Muktinath Temples.

Ohio nightclub shooting: 1 killed, 13 injured

Cincinnati, Ohio (U.S.), Mar 26 (ANI): At least one person got killed and a dozen people were injured at a nightclub in Cincinnati, Ohio, early on Sunday. Police said that at least two shooters have been involved but the motive still remains unclear. India's envoy to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri to present letters of credential today

Kathmandu (Nepal), Mar 26 (ANI): Indian envoy to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, on Saturday arrived in Kathmandu, where he is expected to present letters of credential to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. Puri, an IFS officer, has been recently appointed as the 24th Ambassador of India to Nepal. He has previously served as the Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. He had also been the member of India's Security Council for two years. Letters of credentials are instrument by which the head of a state exercises his or her power to appoint ambassadors and ministers to foreign countries.

10 Indian youths facing death row pardoned by UAE court

Abu Dhabi, Mar 24 (ANI): At least ten Punjabi men have been pardoned by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) court after the father of the Pakistani man they had accidentally killed submitted a letter of pardon. The letter was given after the NGO Sarbat Da Bhalla Charitable Trust, run by NRI businessman SPS Oberoi, paid blood money of Rs 60 lakh in Pakistani currency to have the men released. The men were accused of killing Pakistani national Mohamaad Faran in July 2015 during a fight over bootlegging. Speaking on the same, the victim's father Mohammad Izaz said that humanity was above all else.

UK attack: Attacker inspired by international terrorism, say police

London (United Kingdom), Mar 23 (ANI): The death toll in London's terror attack has risen to four and 40 others have been injured. Britain's senior counter-terrorism officer Mark Rowley on Wednesday said that the attack on Westminster Bridge appears to be inspired by 'international terrorism' but declined to reveal identity of the attacker. He added that number of police officials on-duty will be increased as a precautionary measure over next few days. One of the victim has been identified as police officer Keith Palmer.

The lawyers, who were on strike, also demanded amendments to the PoK interim Constitution Act 1974. The lawyers stated that it is a dark move by the Pakistan Government to carve out Gilgit from Jammu and Kashmirand make its land available to the Chinese Government for the Economic Corridor. The protestors raised slogans like "Bacha-bacha katt marega,par ye suba nahi banega", to voice their outrage.
