Protests in Nepal over tabling of Constitution amendment bill

Kathmandu, Dec 03 (ANI): With disgruntled parties rejecting the Constitution amendment proposal, people residing in the hilly regions of Nepal have reacted angrily to its tabling by the government. The opposition CPN-UML has already started to demonstrate in parliament along with its student wing on road. All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of CPN-UML has started a protest in front of various governments owned educational institution. They are chanting slogans against the government's move to change the territory of state no. 5 and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. They are blaming the government in an attempt to split the country with the changes in the territory. Arrest, deportation of Baloch activists by Thailand invites global condemnation

Bangkok, Dec 02 (ANI): On November 26, Thai police arrested Munir Mengal, founder of the Baloch Voice Association, and Bilal Baloch, a journalist, from a Bangkok hotel. Residents of France, both of them were deported for holding a conference on Balochistan. Police also arrested and interrogated Hong Kong-based Asian Human Rights Commission (AHRC) commissioner Bashir Naveed and placed him in a detention centre for over 24 hours the next day. He was later deported to Hong Kong. The conference titled "Balochistan Geopolitics and the Baloch! An analysis of Past, Present and Future" was to be held between November 28 and 30. Many delegates, who had already reached the venue to attend the conference, blamed the Thai government for acting against the Baloch and others at the behest of China and Pakistan, as the conference was about to raise the issue of multi-billion dollar China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. AI starts direct flight from Delhi to Spain

Madrid, Spain, Dec 02 (ANI): Air India started its direct, non-stop, thrice-a-week flights from Delhi to Madrid on Thursday. Speaking at the inaugural launch of the Delhi-Madrid flight, Air India Director-Commercial, Pankaj Srivastava, said the flight will bring the two countries closer and will take less than 9 hours to reach Madrid from Delhi. Air India has flights to eight other European cities such as Birmingham, Vienna, Rome, Paris, London, Milan, Frankfurt and Moscow.

Nepal Rastra Bank reduces Indian rupees exchange limit, waits for RBI's response

Kathmandu, Nov 26 (ANI): The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has reduced the exchange limit of INR to 2,000 from 5,000 after India introduced new bank notes of Rs. 500 and Rs. 2,000. The NRB has also requested the people not to use newly introduced note of 500 and 2,000 terming it "illegal", citing Foreign Exchange Management Act, which is still to ratify the bank notes. Nepal has also sent a letter to RBI regarding the matter. It is estimated that 21.9 percent of total Rs 1,039.21 billion foreign reserve in Nepal is constituted by Indian Rupees. The NRB also have formed a committee to recommend the Indian government about the procedures of exchanging the Indian Currency.

Birgunj, Nepal, Nov 25 (ANI): Persuading people to make yoga a daily practice, Nepal President Bidya Devi Bhandari inaugurated a yoga camp at the Adarsh Nagar consortium in Nepal's Birgunj. 40 dead after power station collapses in China's Fengcheng city

Jiangxi, China, Nov 24 (ANI): At least 40 people have died after an under construction platform at a power plant's cooling tower in eastern China's Jiangxi province collapsed on Thursday. CCTV footage was put out along with the photographs of rescuers working on the scene. A state-run news agency said that the accident happened in Fengcheng city at around 7 a.m.

Earthquake-triggered Tsunami halts Fukushima nuclear power plant working for awhile

Tokyo, Nov 22 (ANI): A powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake, which hit Northern Japan on Tuesday, disrupted the functioning of nuclear plant for a while and also triggered a minor tsunami in the region. Madhesi parties set fresh deadline for amendments in constitution

Nepal, Nov 21 (ANI): Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav on Monday said the alliance and other small parties have set a 15-day deadline before Prime Minister Prachanda to table a proposal in Parliament to amend the new Constitution to address Madhesi grievances. Yadav said if the deadline is not met, the Madhesi Morcha and other parties will again launch a protest against the Prachanda government to meet their demands.
