Plight of Muslims in Kashgar

Kashgar, Xinjiang, Nov 07 (ANI): Kashgar, a Muslim dominated city in Xinjiang, has a rich history of over 2,000 years and served as a trading post and strategically important city on the Silk Road between China, the Middle East and Europe. Bordering Pakistan, an Islamic nation, the Muslims in Kashgar have no right to embrace Islam. Muslim women are restricted to burqa or jilibafu, a full-length black cloak. There are restrictions in offering Namaz, or prayers and they are even not allowed to eat halal meat. Religious repression has gotten much worse in recent months. The Uyghur Muslims in Kashgar find it difficult to get passports to go on Hajj, an annual pilgrimage to Mecca, and a mandatory religious duty for Muslims. Islam has been crushed in Kashgar on behest of Pakistan, who has different policies for Muslims living in his own country and in bordering Kashgar.
