Dhaka, Jan 27 (ANI): The first phase of Biswa Ijtema has concluded following the final prayer on the banks of the river Turag in Tongi, 20 kilometres off the capital city Dhaka in Bangladesh. Devout Muslims across the globe assembled in Bangladesh to participate in the Biswa Ijtema -- the world Islamic congregation -- billed as the second largest annual gathering of Muslims after the Hajj.
Muzaffarabad / London, Jan 27: The people of Aabai village in Azad Kashmir are mourning the death of 25-year-old Farhan Butt, who was killed in Pakistan's port city, Karachi, where he had gone for higher education. His family claims he was targeted by Pakistan's secret agencies. Many youths and professionals, who lack opportunities in Azad Kashmir, head for big cities across Pakistan in search of better prospects. However, they are picked, tortured and killed by unknown miscreants, allegedly secret agents. Professionals like professors and doctors from Azad Kashmir, who are working in other Pakistani cities, are also being targeted. A part of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Kashmir has been under Pakistani rule for over six decades now.
Dhaka, Jan 21 (ANI): Bangladesh's opposition leader, Khaleda Zia, called on supporters to join a black-flag march to condemn the ruling Awami League government. BNP Chief Khaleda Zia dubbed the ruling government as illegitimate and unconstitutional. Addressing a sea of supporters, Khaleda Zia said that she was hopeful that the ruling party would not obstruct the rally on January 29. Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia also demanded the release of her party supporters and others jailed for allegedly committing war crimes.
New Delhi/ Kolkata, Jan 20 (ANI): The violence let loose against the Hindus this time, before and after the January 5 elections has been worst in recent times. Areas of Jessore, Dinajpur and Satkhira, Gaibandha, Rajshahi and Chittagong have been particularly affected. There are violent attacks on villages, business establishments and places of worship of Hindus. Young men are now sitting on night vigils, trying to protect the women and children. There have even been reports of women being raped. Many Hindus say that the atrocities are reminding them of what their community faced in 1971 at the hands of Pakistani army and the local collaborators.
India suspended border trade with Pakistan after police recovered a truck containing 114 packets of suspected brown sugar in Kashmir. The police recovered the packets from a truck said to be containing bags of almonds which was coming from Pakistan occupied Kashmir.
Dhaka, Jan 20 (ANI): Poll-related unrest in Bangladesh shows no sign of easing. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its Islamist allies, especially Jamaat-e-Islami, continue to hold the country to ransom. Activists of BNP targeted the minority Hindus and torched Chapotala and Malopara villages in Jassore. They attacked their houses and shops with crude weapons and sticks, displacing around 600 villagers. Attacks against minorities were also carried out in Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh and Gaibandha. The Hindus, under the aegis of Acharya Vivekananda Goswami International group, came out on the streets to raise their voice against the crimes committed by BNP and Jamaat activists.
Dhaka, Jan 16 (ANI): Bangladesh's opposition leader, Khaleda Zia, urged the ruling Awami League party to renew talks for forming a democratic government, dubbing the present government as 'unconstitutional'. Bangladesh's new government was sworn in on January 12, a week after the ruling party won a violence-plagued election that the opposition boycotted and amid growing international calls for fresh and inclusive polls. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League ended with more than two-thirds of seats in a contest that was shunned by international observers, terming them as flawed and derided as a farce by the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). BNP leader and Hasina's bitter rival, Khaleda Zia, said the new government was not legitimate and unconstitutional, devoid of the representation of the people. Khaleda Zia also urged the ruling party to initiate talks for setting up a fair and democratic government in the country.

Gilgit Baltistan, a part of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, has been illegally occupied by Pakistan for over six decades now.
Islamabad, Jan 13 (ANI): Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Mohammad Saeed has said that India will have to leave Kashmir just like the United States has been compelled to pull out from Afghanistan. Saeed said this while addressing at a local media workshop in Islamabad. The workshop was organized by Defence of Pakistan Council, an alliance of about 40 religious and political parties.

Addressing a rally in Dhaka, Hasina said that her ministers would take oath on January 12. Hasina also said that her government would end the culture of violence in the country. The polls were derided as a farce by the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), who boycotted the vote.

Bangladesh recently concluded elections that ended with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Awami League winning more than two-thirds of parliament seats. Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath to the 230 newly elected lawmakers of Awami League including party chief Sheikh Hasina. 31 lawmakers from HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party took oath in second phase.

It's a new concept for mobility within urban areas. People can rent units of "NISSAN New Mobility Concept", an ultra convenient electric vehicle. They can drop off the vehicle at a different location from where they were hired, enabling one-way travel. The scheme aims at using ultra-compact vehicles to improve lifestyles of people in the urban areas. The small size of the electric vehicles holds out the prospect of easing traffic congestions, and improving access to tourist areas and communities. The ultra-compact electric vehicle produces no emission, making it ideal for use in crowded city streets.
