Kathmandu (Nepal), July 24 (ANI): At least 11 people were killed, while two others went missing, after landslides, triggered by incessant rains, buried houses in Nepal's western district of Gulmi on Tuesday. The incident occurred in ward number 3 and 4 of the Satyavati Rural Municipality. As many as 200 houses in the area remain in danger of being swept away from the further possible landslides. The Nepal Army and Police personnel with the help of locals are carrying out the search and rescue operation but continuous rainfall in the area has added trouble. Local Residents are now taking shelter in a local school as the landslide threat lingers over their residence. The local body also has suspected that the number of casualties might go further high as the landslide seems to be much bigger. The fourth month of the lunar calendar is devoted to Lord Shiva, saviour and destructor of the universe, and unmarried women observe fast and offer prayers wishing for a good husband, while married women fast for the longevity of their husbands and wellbeing of their family members. Every Monday of Shravan, the devotees worship Lord Shiva donned in fresh clothes and take sacred meals that exclude garlic, onion, and even grains. As per the religious belief, one's wishes are fulfilled and Lord Shiva showers fortunes on the devotees who visit the shrines dedicated to him. Devotees get up early and after finishing their morning rituals, visit temples to pray on the first Monday of the month of Shravan.
Kathmandu (Nepal), July 19 (ANI): At least five people were injured and one was killed in a bomb explosion at a local hotel in Dhangadhi of Nepal on Thursday. The injured were rushed to the hospital. "One Chinese gun also was found at the blast site," said Police Superintendent, Sudip Giri. Police suspected the workers affiliated to Neta Bikram Chand 'Biplav'-led Communist Party of Nepal to be behind the blast. But the banned political organisation is yet to make a statement on the incident. On Thursday, the police had found one Chinese pistol and a bike that the deceased, Singh, was riding. The investigation into the case is underway.
