Devotees in Nepal flock to Shiva temples to offer prayers on auspicious Monday

Kathmandu (Nepal), Jul 22 (ANI): Hindu devotees flocked Shiva temples in Nepal marking the auspicious first Monday of the month of Shravan, the fourth month of Bikram Sambat, the Nepali Calendar. The fourth month of the lunar calendar is devoted to Lord Shiva, saviour and destructor of the universe, and unmarried women observe fast and offer prayers wishing for a good husband, while married women fast for the longevity of their husbands and wellbeing of their family members. Every Monday of Shravan, the devotees worship Lord Shiva donned in fresh clothes and take sacred meals that exclude garlic, onion, and even grains. As per the religious belief, one's wishes are fulfilled and Lord Shiva showers fortunes on the devotees who visit the shrines dedicated to him. Devotees get up early and after finishing their morning rituals, visit temples to pray on the first Monday of the month of Shravan.

One dead and five injured in Nepal blast

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 19 (ANI): At least five people were injured and one was killed in a bomb explosion at a local hotel in Dhangadhi of Nepal on Thursday. The injured were rushed to the hospital. "One Chinese gun also was found at the blast site," said Police Superintendent, Sudip Giri. Police suspected the workers affiliated to Neta Bikram Chand 'Biplav'-led Communist Party of Nepal to be behind the blast. But the banned political organisation is yet to make a statement on the incident. On Thursday, the police had found one Chinese pistol and a bike that the deceased, Singh, was riding. The investigation into the case is underway.

Nepal floods: Water recedes but death toll rises further

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 18 (ANI): After leaving a trail of devastation and wreaking havoc in 31 of the 77 districts of Nepal, water level in various districts has started receding but the death toll has increased further to 88. At least 31 are still believed to be missing. In a week of the havoc caused by the floods and landslides, a total of 3,366 people were rescued, as per the government figures. As per the government figures 27,000 police personnel; some 8,000 from the Nepal Army and 8,150 from the Armed Police Force (AFP) have been mobilized to the flood-hit areas for the rescue work. Also, the helicopters are kept on standby mode in Kathmandu, Itahari and Dhanusha districts in case of emergency as well as to facilitate rescue, relief and transport flood and landslide survivors. Public anger mounts as floods hit Gilgit Baltistan

ICJ asks Pakistan to review conviction, sentencing of Jadhav

Hague (Netherland), July 17 (ANI): The International Court of Justice on Wednesday asked Pakistan to review its conviction and sentencing of India national Kulbhushan Jadhav, facing execution on charging spying. ICJ said, "A continued stay of execution constitutes an indispensable condition for the effective review and reconsideration of the conviction and sentence of Mr. Kulbhushan Sudhir Jadhav". "Court finds that Pakistan deprived India of the right to communicate with and have access to Kulbhushan Jadhav, to visit him in detention and to arrange for his legal representation, and thereby breached obligations incumbent upon it under Vienna Convention on Consular Relations" ICJ further added.

'I am treated like a dog': pro-Khalistani leader Gopal Singh Chawla

Lahore (Pakistan), July 17 (ANI): Former Chief of Pakistan Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (PSGPC) and a pro-Khalistani leader, who was removed recently from a panel linked to the Kartarpur Corridor, has alleged Pakistan government of treating him like a dog. Chawla recently hoisted Nishan Sahib at Gurudwara Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh at Naulakha Bazar in Lahore. Kartarpur Corridor: Pakistan agrees on 80% demands

Wagah Border (Pakistan), July 14 (ANI): Pakistan agreed on 80% demands on Kartarpur Sahib after bilateral meeting with India on Sunday. France launches 1st Barracuda-class nuclear attack submarine 'Suffren'

Cherbourg-Octeville (France), July 13 (ANI): France on Friday launched the first nuclear attack submarine of the Barracuda-Class named 'Suffren' at the Naval Group facility in Cherbourg-Octeville. The boat, first in its class being built for French Navy, was launched by French President Emanuel Macron. While speaking to ANI on this matter, Vice President (Sales and Business Development) of India, Asia and Pacific, Naval Group, Nicolas de La Villemarque said, "This is the latest generation submarine of the French Navy. There will be 6 of them. They have the latest technology for combat management system and also for stealth." The nuclear submarine enjoy an edge over conventional submarines because they can stay underwater for a much longer period of time, this making it difficult for the enemy to locate and hunt them.
