During his visit, the Vice President addressed the Indian diaspora, inaugurated the Indian Armed Forces Memorial and attended the Paris Peace Forum which was held to commemorate the centenary of the Armistice of World War 1.
New Delhi, Nov 11 (ANI): The United States of America (USA) strongly condemned the crackdown on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community by Tanzania government. According to an official statement, the US government was deeply concerned over escalating attacks and legislative actions by government of Tanzania. The statement further said that Tanzanian government violated civil liberties and human rights. It also said that continued arrests and harassment of marginalized persons including lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender among others who seek to exercise their rights to freedom of speech, association and assembly have troubled US. The Governor of Dar es Salaam vowed to arrest all Tanzanian citizens belonging to the LGBT community.

New Delhi, Nov 09 (ANI): A fast-moving wildfire in Chico, North California, burnt a hospital, hundreds of homes led to the displacement of thousands on Thursday. The blaze which began early on November 8 would further add to the list of worst wildfires that have been occurring in California over the past years. The flames have already destroyed 6,21,743 acres (251,610 hectares) of land, nearly twice the amount during the same period of 2017 and nearly triple the five-year average, Khaleej Times reported. The situation is gradually getting worse with time. Escape routes near the city have been blocked leading to more traffic accidents in the area. No deaths have been reported till now.

Geneva (Switzerland), Nov 03 (ANI): Human rights activists and academicians have raised serious concern over Beijing's failure to protect human rights of indigenous and minority communities in the country, especially Xinjiang and Tibet. Department of Information and International and Relations (DIIR) and office of Tibet Geneva have jointly organised a forum under the title "Making China Accountable under UN Human Rights Mechanism" at the Centre International de Conferences, Geneva on Friday. It aims to expose China's failure to implement the recommendations by the United Nations Human Rights Council in its Universal Periodic Review (UPR) in 2013. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pakistan), Nov 03 (ANI): Supporters of former Pakistan senator and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) chief Maulana Samiul Haq burnt down Rashakai toll plaza in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on November 1. Haq was also known as the 'Father of Taliban'. He was stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi on November 1. Haq was elected as a senator in 1985 before he was again elected in 1991. His death came at a time when Pakistan is going through a volatile religious-political crisis over Supreme Court acquitting Asia Bibi in a blasphemy case.
