US curbs nuclear technology sales to China

New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): The Donald Trump administration has decided to limit sales of United States' civil nuclear technology to China to prevent use for military or unauthorised purposes, thus heightening further tensions between the two countries. "The United States cannot ignore the national security implications of China's efforts to obtain nuclear technology outside of established processes of US-China civil nuclear cooperation," CNN quoted US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry as saying on Thursday. Casio contributes to education in Indonesia

Jakarta (Indonesia), Oct 11 (ANI): Indonesia has over 50 million students and 2.6 million teachers in more than 250,000 schools. It is the third largest education system in Asia region. Recently the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia has signed a partnership with global electronics maker "Casio" in order to focus on the "STEM" which is an education curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines - science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Casio has large global market share of scientific calculators which help develop students' study of mathematics. Casio had spent more than 20 years in Vietnam spreading out mathematics teaching methods using scientific calculators, and after achieving huge success there, Casio started in Indonesia two years ago the same efforts. Nepal celebrates Bada Dashain festival with pomp and gaiety

Kathmandu (Nepal), Oct 10 (ANI): "Navaratri Parba" or the nine-night festival of Bada Dashain, one of the most important festivals of the Hindus of Nepal, began on Wednesday. The courtyard of ancient Palace of Nepal, the Basantapur Durbar Square on Wednesday echoed with the ancient musical instrument with firing of shots by the traditional "Paltan". The first day of Bada Dashain festival is called "Ghatasthapana" that falls on Aswin Shukla Pratipada, the first day of the bright half of the lunar calendar in the month of Asoj. On the first auspicious day, all Nepalis worship Diyo (an oil-fed lamp), Kalas (auspicious jar) and Lord Ganesh in accordance with Vedic rituals with sowing of maize and barley in a jar filled with soil and cow dung for the germination of the sowed grains known as "Jamara", the barley shoots. Youth in PoK protest against escalating water crisis

Muzaffarabad (PoK), Oct 09: People comprising largely of youngsters of occupied region of PoK took to the streets of Muzaffarabad and other parts of PoK, expressing their anger over the construction of dams in the region and seeking freedom from the decades-long subjugation and occupation of the region by Pakistan. The protests were led by United Kashmir People's National Party (UKPNP) and its student wing United Kashmir National Students Organisation (UKNSO). Indonesia quake-tsunami: Death toll mounts to 1,944

New Delhi, Oct 08 (ANI): Indonesia's military and disaster agency officials confirmed that the death toll in the earthquake and tsunami that struck Central Sulawesi has mounted to 1,944. Meanwhile, Indonesia's National Disaster Mitigation Agency informed that the survivors of the earthquake and tsunami have started to return to their homes. The number of displaced people has come down to 62,359 in 147 locations across Central Sulawesi. Janakpur - Jayanagar railway link project near completion

Janakpur (Nepal), Oct 05 (ANI): The Janakpur - Jaynagar railway line between India and Nepal is near to its completion. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri along with officials from India and Nepal, including Director General of the Department of Railways Balaram Mishra, travelled from Janakpur to Kakanpatti, a 10 km rail line that is near to its completion. Puri made a surprise visit to Janakpur and reviewed the work being carried out in the Southern Plain of Nepal.
