Country’s largest lender State Bank of India (SBI
) has been conferred the National Award by the ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) for its performance in the implementation of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP
) scheme for the year 2012.
The award was conferred by President Pranab Mukherjee to Pratip Chaudhuri, chairman, SBI.
SBI had surpassed the target set under PMEGP scheme for FY2011-12, the bank said in a statement.
This is the fourth consecutive year that SBI has bagged this award for its performance under the scheme since inception, the statement added.
