Yapp Zoom Automotive Systems Pvt Ltd has inaugurated its plastic fuel tank manufacturing facility at the Ford New Suppliers Park near here. The company has invested around Rs 60 crore in the facility.
Yapp Zoom is a joint venture between Yangzhou-based Yapp Automotive Parts Co Ltd and Mumbai’s Zoom Developers Pvt Ltd.
The plant has a capacity to produce about 250,000 plastic fuel tanks per annum in the 30-100 litres capacity range. The Chennai facility will manufacture both mono/multi-layered plastic fuel tanks for automobiles, seeking to replace metal fuel tanks.
Sun Yan, president, Yapp Automotive Parts Company Limited, said the plant would cater to domestic automotive manufacturers. Plastic fuel tanks for automotive vehicle is a worldwide phenomenon, now adopted by the Indian automotive sector as well.
“After China, India is another example of automotive production and consumption. We hope that this new plant will prove an additional advantage for Indian automotive manufacturers in their quest for global markets,” said Deng Hua, chairman, Yapp Automotive Parts Company Limited.
