No threat from artificial lake at Pin valley

"The lake has breached and sufficient quantity of water has been released and there is no cause for anxiety," ADC, Kaza Heshing Negi said.
The area of the lake formed by obstruction of Pin river at an altitude of 11,000-ft had increased to nearly 3.5 sq km and the depth to 20 to 30-ft, triggering fear among locals that in case it bursts, downstream areas will be flooded. But today it was breached from one side and water was drained out, Negi said.
Meanwhile, the deputy commissioner, Lahaul and Spiti today made an aerial survey of the area and said that the situation was normal and no person was stranded there.
The discharge of water in Sutlej has increased with fast melting of snow in higher reaches and the people along the bank of the river have been alerted to remain vigilant.
