TMC welcomes JD(U) statement

Press Trust of India Kolkata

"We welcome it. It is a changing situation now. Many parties will come forward to oppose the Centre's anti-people decisions. Yesterday, DMK had said that it would back any opposition-sponsored resolution in Parliament against allowing FDI in multi-brand retail," senior party leader Saugata Roy told PTI here.

JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav had said in Delhi that "we are not focussed on ousting the government but if it is falling anyway, we will definitely give it a push."

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee had said in Delhi yesterday her party planned to bring a no-confidence motion against the UPA government in the next session of Parliament and sought the support of other political parties.

Another senior TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay said his party was for a federal front comprising regional parties to counter the Congress-led UPA government.

"Federal Front comprising regional parties in various states is the need of the hour as Congress and BJP have failed to give a proper direction in the present situation in the country," Bandyopadhyay, the leader of Trinamool Congress parliamentary party in Lok Sabha, told PTI.
