Woman murdered after failed rape attempt in UP

A 26-year-old woman was today hacked to death by a man after a failed rape attempt in Rijore area, police said here.

Virendra (40) attempted to rape the victim, failing which he slit her throat with a sickle this afternoon, they said.

The victim was rushed to the district hospital, but died while being taken to Agra, police said.

Meanwhile, local residents caught the accused and handed him over to police.

Additional Superintendent of Police Visarjan Singh said the victim recorded her dying declaration before the magistrate.
