Youth gets five years jail for attempt to rape

A youth has been sentenced to five years imprisonment by a court for attempting to rape a woman.

Additional Sessions Court Manoj Kumar convicted Vinit Pandey and also imposed a fine of Rs 8,000 on him.

According to prosecution, he attempted to rape the 21-year-old woman in her house at Kandhla town in neighbouring Shamli district in December 10, 2008.

The victim's brother had lodged a complaint in the matter.
