The company is now going in for a main project of developing a full featured web portal, similar to Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)'s www.bsnl.in which is also a Intelli-developed portal. The BSNL portal was launched in August last year.

The company is also looking after the maintenance and content development part of the BSNL portal. The portal currently accepts online payments in the Andhra Pradesh circle from HDFC and UTI Bank customers.

“The success with BSNL is paying good dividends and we got a mandate from Microsoft which has originally bagged the MTNL project,” Abhishek Nigam, a senior manager of Intelligroup, said.

“We developed the BSNL portal utilising our experience in developing the enterprise application portals, facilitating the ability to access disparate applications and integrating operational business processes,” he said.

The company developed a home-grown content management tool having features for the content developers and content editors to get content from diverse sources and post it. The applications are developed using Microsoft technologies. Microsoft BizTalk server was used to achieve online connectivity for both the bill presentation and bill payment updates, Sriram Venugopal, a senior system analyst at Intelli, told Business Standard.

The site has so far received 11 million hits in the past six months. BSNL is also planning to start selling India Telephone Cards and sale and renewal of Internet connections through the portal shortly. Plans are also afoot to provide more value-added services like applying for a phone connection online, phone shift request online etc through the portal.
