Kolkata ISBM campus places maiden batch
Our Bureau / Kolkata April 14, 2006
The first batch of students passing out of the Kolkata campus of the International School of Business & Media (ISBM) have earned placement salaries comparable to those achieved by the institute's original Pune campus.
Sources in the Kolkata campus said they saw this as a great success for the students as they were inevitably benchmarked against students of the well-known Pune campus.
ISBM offered postgraduate and undergraduate programmes in management, media and technology.
The Kolkata campus opened in June 2004 and had nearly 200 students at present.
"The success of the Kolkata campus has set new industry benchmarks both in terms of course structure as well in terms of internship patterns", said ISBM president Pramod Kumar.
All the ISBM Kolkata management students went for a 8-month internship instead of the standard 2-month summer training.
ISBM Kolkata campus recruiters included Ernst& Young, DSP Merill Lynch, ICICI Bank, ICICI Lombard, Sansui, LG Electronics, Shopper's Stop, Frito-Lay India, Max New York Life Insurance, Dabur, Bata, Bajaj Allianz, ITC Wills Lifestyle, IndusInd Bank and MorganStanley.
Average salary for 2004-2006 batch was around Rs 4.2 lakh, with maximum salary at Rs 9.5 lakh.
The media batch was placed with companies like Zee Network, Euro RSCG, R K Swamy BBDO, RED-FM, ITC Infotech, Columbia Tristar and Star TV, CNBC and ESPN Star Sports, said ISBM sources.
It achieved 100 per cent placement.
Kumar, a PhD from IIT Mumbai, said ISBM campuses in Pune, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore had demonstrated impressive performance on account of almost all parameters that bring greater learning environment and academic excellence.
Kumar said ISBM focus on a value system and culture produced students who were result-driven, had a professional orientation and were energetic.
The school of business offered a 2-year full-time programme spread over six semesters including online courses with Financial Times, London.
The school of media had a 2-year postgraduate programme in media over six semesters too.
