After winning a nationwide recognition for its business model for small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs), Rajkot has left Dubai spellbound.
Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority (DSO) has expressed interest in developing small- scale industries such as oil engine and clock industries cluster in Dubai on the lines of Rajkot.
Juma Almatrushi, senior chief corporate service officer, DSO, recently visited the city to take the proposal further.
He also showed willingness to provide a platform in West asia to Rajkot-based industrialists.
Juma, on a visit to the city-based Saurashtra Medical and Educational Charitable Trust's ‘Project Life', was speaking about the opportunities available to Indian industrialists in Dubai. He further said, "Indian industrialists are very hard working. Besides, they are capable enough to establish the technology in their own country as well as any other country in the world."
"We are exploring various business models in India and want to develop Rajkot's oil engine and clock industry model in Dubai," he added.
Industrialists from Rajkot can also use Dubai as a hub to invest in West Asia and DSO has been established for that purpose only, he opined. However, he did not reveal the total investment done by the Indian companies in DSO.
At present, DSO comprises of 110 companies, of which 40 per cent are Indian. At present, it focuses more on information and technology. While the companies hailing from Bangalore and Chennai have invested in DSO, there isn't any company from Gujarat.
"At present, we don't have any plan to invest in Gujarat. However, if any good proposal comes we would think over it," said Juma.
It may be noted that a delegation from Dubai is in Rajkot and met the representatives of Rajkot oil engine association and chamber of commerce on Sunday. |
