The estimated production of fertilisers during May 2001 was 7.83 lakh tonne of nitrogen against the target of 9.22 lakh tonne and 2.63 lakh tonne of phosphate as against the target of 3.94 lakh tonne at a capacity utilisation of 78 per cent and 61.8 per cent respectively.
Production of both nitrogenous and phosphatic fertilisers was lower on account of less supply of natural gas and its quality and equipment problems in some plants, an official statement said here.
The production of urea was also lower at 14.30 lakh tonne as against the target of 15.85 lakh tonne while it was 3.34 lakh tonne in case of DAP against the target of 5.27 lakh tonne, it added.
During May 2001, 14.27 lakh tonne of urea was despatched to the states as against a target of 14 lakh tonne, the release said and added cumulative availability of DAP by May-end, 2001 had been 4.12 lakh tonne.
