    Venezuela demonetising 100-bolivar bill

    Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on December 11, signed an emergency decree demonetising the country’s largest bill note— 100 Bolivar bank notes— to be illegal tender within 72 hours.

    Due to mismanagement and a 69% drop in the price of Venezuelan oil, which serves as the primary source income, the government was lagging in balancing the trade and repaying the foreign debt.
