Cristiano Ronaldo was included in Portugal's squad by new coach Jorge Jesus for its upcoming Nations League games on Friday.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo said that this summer's World Cup was his last, but the global star has yet to say when he plans to retire from international play. He will be 43 by the time the 2028 European Championship, the next major tournament, is held.
This was the first squad named by Jesus, who was hired to replace Spaniard Roberto Martinez after Portugal lost 1-0 to Spain in the round of 16 of the World Cup. Jesus' previous coaching job was with Ronaldo's club Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, where they won the league together last season.
The 72-year-old Jesus has also coached several Portuguese clubs, including Benfica and Sporting Lisbon.

FIFA's member federations should each get an extra USD 10 million from its swelling cash reserves after a successful World Cup, the soccer body's vice presidents from Europe and North America said in a letter Friday to its president Gianni Infantino as they step up efforts to oust him for trying to sell stakes in the tournament to private investors.

The missing Asia Cup trophies won by the Indian men's and women's team will be brought to the BCCI headquarters here one day but a timeline cannot be provided for it, said secretary Devajit Saikia here on Friday.
After winning the Asia Cup, the men's team and more recently the women refused to take the trophy from Asian Cricket Council president Moshin Naqvi, who is also an interior minister in the Pakistan government.

The BCCI has restricted the categories of the umpires while enhancing their per-day pay "substantially" along with that of the match referees, while introducing a promotion-relegation system based on merit, the board's secretary Devajit Saikia informed on Friday.
Saikia said there was no revision of the fees for the umpires and match referees for nearly a decade, which has been done now.
While details weren't furnished, currently, for senior domestic tournaments umpires in top two grades get Rs 40,000 an Rs 30,000 per day respectively while for T20 games, the amount is Rs 20,000.
But the revised payments will be Rs 60,000, Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 35,000 per day as per grades A, B, C and D.
"For almost 10 years from 2017-18, there was no revision of the fees of the umpires so we have done a restructuring of their categories," Saikia told reporters here after the BCCI's AGM here on Friday.

Saudi club Al-Taawon has been fined and ordered to play behind closed doors after video appeared to show fans chanting about the late Portugal forward Diogo Jota.

Seasoned kabaddi player Pawan Sehrawat replaced Tajinderpal Singh Toor as India's flag-bearer for the Asian Games opening ceremony here on Saturday as the celebrated shot-putter has not yet received his official kit, which will prevent him from attending the gala event.
