BS Weekend Team New Delhi

* Ricorso, Jehangir Sabavala’s solo of 20 new works painted over the last two years, goes up at the Sakskhi Gallery in Mumbai today. The 86-year-old celebrated artist last had a solo six years ago.

* Anxious is a group show that opened at the Galerie Mirchandani + Steinruecke in Mumbai yesterday and will go on till November 1. “Ghost curated” by Gitanjali Dang, here are photographs, drawings, paintings by eminent names like Jyothi Basu, Anandjit Ray, Shibu Natesan

* GenNext III, the annual exhibition at Kolkata’s Aakriti Art Gallery, from September 3-October 3. Young artists are the focus but this year’s Gen Next includes some foreign talent as well — Tom Mathew and Justin Tylar Tate (from the US), Ashraful Hasan (Bangladesh) and Serena Scapagnini (Italy).

 

Two artists and a gallery

* Gallery Espace in the capital has two interesting shows, both opening on October 1 and continuing till October 21 — Within the Walls by Baroda-based Abir Karmakar of 12 eerily homoerotic oils, and An Other Place, an exhibition of photographs by Delhi-based environmentalist-lensman Ravi Agarwal.

* Ketaki Sheth’s Bombay Mix, Street Photographs will be a part of this year’s Fête Du Livre, the annual book fest in the French town of Aix-en-Provence. Running from October 17-November 28

* A solo of Chintan Upadhaya, Mistake, opened in London’s Aicon Gallery on September 24 and will be up for a month.
