Cricket: Scots succumb to mighty Aussies

| Put in to bat first by the opposition, Australia charged to a huge 334 for the loss of six wickets from their allotted 50 overs, backed a century from the captain Ricky Ponting 113 (93). Adam Gilchrist 46 and Hayden 60 contributed at the top, while Brad Hogg finished the innings with a breezy 40 of just 15 balls. Colin Smith top scored for Scotland with a well-made 51 of 76 balls. However, the Scots ended with a mere 131 for 9 of 40.1 overs. Number 11 batsman John Blain did not bat as he was unwell. Eventually, Australia won the match with a huge margin of 203 runs.
