Areva T&D PAT up at Rs 36 crore

Areva T&D India reported a net PAT of Rs 36 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2006 compared with Rs 11.8 crore in the previous year corresponding period.
 
In the last nine months of the current year, operating profit ratio for the transmission and distribution (T&D) business rose to 11.3 per cent from 7.1 per cent during the same period last year.
 
The company's order book position stood healthy at Rs 1,500 crore.
 
As indicated earlier, the Areva board, at the meeting held on October 27, approved the merger of Areva T& D Systems India, Areva T&D Instrument Transformer India and Areva T& D Lightning Arresters with Areva T&D India. The move will enhance leadership, reduce costs and expand market share.
 
It will also enable the company to offer full T&D range of products, systems and services.
 
The company has successfully manufactured, tested and delivered the 765 kv circuit breaker "� the country's first wholly-manufactured 765 kv circuit breaker from the high voltage unit at Perungudi, Chennai, which reaffirms its leadership in the 765 kv segment. The first 765 kV control panel is going through the FAT (factory acceptance test) at the automation unit at Pallavaram, Chennai.
 
The demand for 765 kv products is likely to increase to help reduction in transmission losses and higher power transfer. Areva T&D India is well equipped to capitalise on this demand.
