Arvind Mills profit jumps four-fold

Arvind Mills net profit rose over four-fold to Rs 104.79 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2006, compared with Rs 23.4 crore posted in the previous corresponding quarter. Its net sales for the period grew 14.78 per cent y-o-y to Rs 447.87 crore from Rs 390.22 crore.

The Lalbhai group flagship company registered a fall of 15.6 per cent in operating profit to Rs 79.28 crore from Rs 93.93 crore during the period last year.

The company's expenditure increased to Rs 371.24 crore in the last quarter from Rs 298.4 crore, up 24.41 per cent. Its EPS (earnings per share) for the last quarter stood at Rs 4.96 against Rs 1.07 for the same quarter a year ago.
