Ashok Leyland's UK arm Optare has stregthened its leadership team by roping in former Volvo senior executive Alastair Munro.
Munro joins Optare as director, engineering. He has over 30 years experience in engineering design and product development in the bus, coach and commercial vehicle industry.
At Volvo, he was responsible for product introduction, launch and market adaptation. Munro was responsible for commercial, school, coach, and RV-based products at the Plaxton/Blue Bird organisation based in Georgia, USA.
He was also involved in bespoke engineering, manufacturing and process rationalisation roles within the bus, marine, emergency services and specialist vehicle sectors.
In 2010, Ashok Leyland acquired 26% stake for around Rs 28 crore and in 2011 further it increased the stake in Opatre.
Hinduja Group's flagship company Ashok Leyland holds 75% in the bus & coach maker.
