Bata aims at 10% growth in Orissa

Bata India Limited, one of India’s leading shoe manufacturing and marketing companies, is aiming at a 10 per cent growth in its business in the Orissa in 2009 calendar year.

The shoemaker is looking at a turnover of Rs 10 crore in the state this year, compared to Rs 9 crore achieved in 2008.

“We will expand our business through the opening of bigger exclusive outlets in Orissa and also have sub dealers in more areas in the state”, said Goutam Goswami, district manager (Orissa), Bata India.

The company opened its biggest exclusive outlet in Orissa at Berhampur on Thursday. Spread over 6000 sq ft, the outlet was inaugurated by Chaudhury Rabindranath, president, Ganjam Chamber of Commerce. Bata India plans to open four more outlets in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore and Sambalpur in this year over and above its existing 23 outlets in the state. The new outlets would have an area of at least 2000 sq ft with a business potential of Rs 1.5 crore per annum.
