BEL net profit jumps 53% on rising orders

Riding high on increasing orders for both its civilian and defence products, public sector Bharat Electronics posted 52.68 per cent jump in net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2006 to Rs 148.11 crore, compared with Rs 97.01 crore posted in the corresponding quarter of 2005-06.
 
The total income of the company in the quarter under review rose 30.6 per cent to Rs 906.57 crore, against Rs 692.58 crore in the third quarter a year ago.
 
Sequentially, the net profit for the quarter dropped marginally compared with a net profit of Rs 148.26 crore in the second quarter of the current fiscal.
 
However, Bharat Electronics' revenues, in sequential term, rose 2 per cent over Rs 885.12 crore registered in the second quarter of 2006-07.
 
Its net profit for the nine-month period of the current financial year rose 19 per cent to Rs 356.74 crore, compared with Rs 300.27 crore posted in the corresponding period in the previous financial year.
 
The company's revenues grew 12 per cent to Rs 2,290.07 crore from Rs 2,042 crore posted during the corresponding period of 2005-06. The company has announced an interim dividend of Rs 4 per share.
