Discom to invest Rs 207 cr

Eastern Power Distribution Corporation Limited is set to invest another Rs 207 crore during next year to reduce line losses.
In 2009, its distribution losses stood at 8.4 per cent and has come down to 6.16 per cent now. “This is the lowest in the country and we want to reduce it further by spending Rs 207 crore during next year,” Ahmad Nadeem, its chairman and managing director, told mediapersons here on Wednesday.
The company would set up 44 substations of 132/33 kv and 33kv capacity. Besides, it would lay interlinking lines of 22 kv stretching 436 km during the period.
Another Rs 60 crore would go into setting up a centralised call centre at Visakhapatnam and geographical information systems in 29 towns, he said.
