Essilor acquires Hyderabad firm

Spectacle lenses maker Essilor India Pvt Ltd, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Essilor International, has acquired majority stake in the 20 20 Rx Processing, an existing franchisee of the company based in Hyderabad for an undisclosed amount. 20 20 Rx Processing specialises in producing spectacle lenses and other optical products. It was supplying its products to Essilor, the company said in a press release.

"This is in line with Essilor's strategy of growth through acquisition. With this new venture, the optician can look forward to better technology, processes and access to the latest brands and products from Essilor," said Essilor India MD, B Jayanth.

Essilor began its Indian operations in August 1998 as a joint venture between Essilor International France and SRF Limited. In 2006, it became a 100 per cent subsidiary of Essilor International.
