Great Lakes to sign MoUs with foreign institutes

Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM) will sign MoUs with an institute in Shanghai and a European university.
"The tie-up with a university in Shanghai will be in addition to our existing Asian tie-up with the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. We are also in talks with a Switzerland-based university and expect to sign an MoU before the end of 2006," S Sriram, executive director of GLIM, said. This would be the institute's beachhead presence in Europe.
GLIM has already partnered with the Stuart School of Business (affiliated to the Illinois Institute of Technology), and Yale School of Management (Yale University), apart from Nanyang Technological University.
In an effort to develop marketing and sales as its core competency, the institute will organise a lecture by Philip Kotler, a global expert on the strategic practice of marketing, in Chennai. Commenting on the delay in having its own premises on the Old Mahabalipuram Road, Sriram said that the land was likely to be allotted soon, and the institute will be operational there in a year after the allotment. "We plan to construct it as a residential B-school. We will start the work in a phased manner in a total area of 15 acres. In the first phase, we will start the work on 1.5 lakh sft at an investment of Rs 20 crore," he added.
