Honda launches 'Civic'

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd (HSCI) India today launched its premium sedan, Honda Civic, with advanced 1.8 L i-VTEC engine, in Chennai.

According to a company statement, the Civic, which will be available in manual and automatic versions, is the only car in its segment to be equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission with a unique "Paddle Shift" option, which can be operated using the F-1 Racing inspired paddle switches, located just behind the steering spoke.

The paddle shift, a first in India, provides the convenience of an automatic with enhanced driving pleasure of a manual.

Honda Civic is being manufactured at HSCI's facility in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

Initially, the car will be manufactured with 68 percent localisation, which will be increased to 80 percent within the next two years.
