Infousa To Begin Operations In March

BUSINESS STANDARD

InfoUSA, the Omaha-based database information provider promoted by entrepreneur Vinod Gupta, today announced it was starting operations in India. The company is in talks with several firms to outsource call centre services.

"We would start our marketing operations in India on March 17, and are looking for outsourcing services from two call centres in the country. We are visiting eight facilities in and around Delhi and hope to shortlist three call centres whom we would award contract for 25 million calls per year involving survey work and customer care," InfoUSA president (database compilation) Monica Messer said here.

Messer said the company saw an annual investment potential of $10 million in India. The company already outsources data entry jobs from India. The two call centre contracts are expected to be in the range of $2 million each.

Messer said that depending on the kind savings the company manages in outsourcing from India, it would consider doubling its activities in the country.

InfoUSA is also looking at serving Indian clients, especially in the export sector.

The products offered by the company include business sales leads and mailing lists, consumer sales leads and mailing lists, business-to-business sales and marketing directories, business credit reports and customer analyser and new prospect builders, she said.

InfoUSA is listed on the Nasdaq and employs 2,000 people in 37 offices across the US. The company has now embarked on a massive recruitment drive to hire 200 professionals this year for the sales and management activities as well as for its call centre in the US.
