IOC`s Rs 409-crore pipeline inaugurated

Deora said that IOC was proposing to set up an LNG terminal with a capacity of 2.5 MMTPA with a provision for expansion to 5.0 MMTPA, at Ennore.

He said that the techno feasibility study had been completed and suitable land adjacent to Ennore Port had already been identified. The company is expected to invest around Rs 2,700 crore in this project.

Despite difficult supply situation of LNG in the international market, IOC was working to achieve reliable supply of gas so that the implementation of the project could begin soon, he added.

IOC plans to build the LNG terminal to cater to the fuel needs of its subsidiary, Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, and supply regasified LNG to prospective industries in Tamil Nadu.

Deora also said that the ministry would make efforts to ensure that Tamil Nadu gets the benefit of the recent gas finds in the Krishna-Godavari basin.
