ITC, Ramky launch Wow campaign

BS Reporter Chennai

Industrial conglomerate ITC’s paperboards and specialty papers division and Hyderabad-based Ramky group have launched a ‘Wealth out of Waste (Wow)’ campaign to promote waste paper segregation and recycling among corporate houses and other consumers.

The two companies would also sign an MoU for supply and use of waste paper in making paperboards. Ramky supplies 4,000 tonnes a month of waste paper to ITC and the two companies plan to take it to 10,000 tonnes in two years.

ITC sources 20 per cent of its raw material from recycled sources, some of it imported. According to Sanjay K Singh, divisional chief executive, ITC (PSPD), it plans to replace imports with locally sourced recyclable material, and increase its contribution to at least 25 per cent (15,000 tonnes) of the total raw material.
