Chinese electronic goods maker Beijing Kangde Xin Composite Material Co Limited (KDX) in a joint venture partnership with ERIES EPICA group, on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government to set up its glass-free 3D mobile and television screens manufacturing facility in Hyderabad.

A high-level delegation from KDX  called on Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao at his Begumpet residence, and signed the MoU in the presence of state IT, panchayat raj, urban development and municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao. The delegation, however, did not disclose any specifics, in terms of investments, production volumes and the time frames.

According to an official communique from the Telangana government, KDX, with revenues of $1.6 billion, has also been involved in the manufacture of smartphones and tablets, and that it is closely working with entertainment firms including Sony and Dolby.

Stating that his department was laying more emphasis on areas including electronics,  gaming content and mobile manufacturing, KT Rama Rao said his government was formalising plans to set up an exclusive mobile manufacturing cluster, besides coming out with a mobile manufacturing policy, pretty soon.
