LifeCell opens R&D centre in Chennai

LifeCell International Pvt Ltd has launched its research and development centre in Chennai for the development of various stem cell technologies. The company has invested Rs 5 crore for setting up the facility.

The R&D unit, spread over 3,000 sft, would have facilities for harvesting and storage of human somatic stem cells and also equipment for molecular biological analysis of stem cells and their derivatives. Ajit Kumar, chief scientific officer, LifeCell International, will head the operation with a team of 15 scientific and medical professionals.

Mayur Abhaya, executive director, LifeCell International, said the facility would undertake advanced research activities by stem cell therapists.
