Kolkata-based non-banking finance company Magma Fincorp Limited today launched a training initiative under which it plans to train 100,000 truck drivers in fuel conservation in the first year across the country.
The finance company has installed porta cabins and e-toilets at Karimnagar Transport Nagar, one of the 13 such locations identified for the training purpose in different states. Regular bio-monthly training workshops will be conducted in these porta cabins for the truck drivers which are well equipped with LCD monitors, chairs to house 15-20 drivers, it says.
The first batch of one lakh truck drivers who get the training in fuel saving practices, are expected to save 750,000 litres of fuel each year, according to Magma chief sales officer Sachin Khandelwal. They want to train a similar number of truck drivers in the second and third years.
The company has taken up the training programme under the corporate social responsibility in association with the Petroleum Conservation Research Association.
